Job Description: Accountant Location: Chennai, India Employer: Trimble Information Solutions India Reporting To: Accounting Team Lead Working schedule: 4days a week in the office, late start 12 am to support European time zone. Role Overview Trimble is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our Shared Service Center (SSC) in Chennai. As a key member of the finance team, you will support monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing processes, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data across regional and global operations. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with a solid technical foundation who thrives in a collaborative, multinational environment. Reporting directly to the Accounting Team Lead, you will be responsible for general ledger activities, balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting. Key Responsibilities 1. General Ledger & Financial Closing • Support full monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing cycles in accordance with strict corporate deadlines. • Prepare and post manual journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation. • Ensure compliance with US GAAP as well as local Indian accounting standards/statutory requirements. • Maintain and update fixed asset registers, prepaid schedules, and accrual workings. 2. Reconciliations & Audit Support • Perform regular balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly. • Prepare routine financial reports and schedules for the Accounting Team Lead and regional stakeholders. • Assist with internal and external audit requests by providing necessary schedules, documentation, and transaction details. 3. Process Improvement & Efficiency • Identify opportunities to streamline day-to-day accounting workflows within the SSC. • Support process standardisation, digitalization initiatives, and ERP system enhancements to drive operational efficiency. Required Qualifications & Skills • Education & Professional Qualification: • CA Intermediate (ICAI) preferred, OR a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Commerce (B.Com / M.Com), Finance, or a related field. • Experience: • 3–5 years of relevant experience in core accounting roles, ideally within a Global Capability Centre (GCC), Shared Service Center (SSC), or multinational company. • Accounting Principles: • Strong foundation in core accounting practices. Practical exposure to US GAAP and Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) is highly desirable. • Technical Skills: • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, advanced formulas). • Hands-on experience with enterprise ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics). • Communication & Mindset: • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for collaborating with international teams. • Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
