Your work will help restaurants operate efficiently through resilient application performance, hardware integration, offline capabilities, and payment functionality. What you'll do: • Design, develop, and enhance Android applications that support restaurant POS workflows and operational needs. • Write clean, maintainable code using Kotlin, Java, and established engineering standards to support scalable mobile application development. • Implement user interfaces based on product and design requirements, ensuring responsive experiences aligned to Android design principles and Material Design standards. • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to improve application stability, responsiveness, and consistency across devices and screen sizes. • Troubleshoot and resolve defects, working with engineering and quality assurance teams to deliver timely fixes and maintain a high-quality user experience. • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices that improve code quality, maintainability, and team effectiveness. • Develop and execute unit tests and partner with quality assurance teams to support comprehensive application validation. • Manage code changes through Git or similar version control systems and maintain accurate technical documentation for code, processes, and project activities. • Build and maintain integrations with restaurant hardware such as receipt printers, card terminals, and kitchen display systems. • Develop and optimize offline-first synchronization logic to support uninterrupted restaurant operations during network interruptions. • Implement secure payment processing workflows that support payment protection requirements and transaction reliability. • Design and develop restaurant POS features such as order management, menu customization, and table management capabilities. • Stay current with Android development trends, tools, and emerging technologies to improve application quality and engineering practices. • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary. Experience you'll need to have: • 5+ years of experience in Android application development using Kotlin, Java, and Android Studio in production environments. • Experience developing and maintaining Android applications with strong understanding of Android user interface design principles, user experience guidelines, and Material Design. • Experience integrating applications with RESTful application programming interfaces (APIs), third-party libraries, and external services. • Experience troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing Android applications for performance, stability, and device compatibility. • Experience using Git or similar version control systems in collaborative software development environments. • Experience implementing or supporting secure payment workflows, including familiarity with EMV and PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) requirements. • Experience integrating Android applications with peripherals such as Bluetooth, USB, and network-connected hardware devices. • Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience. Experience that would be great to have: • Experience with point-of-sale systems or restaurant or retail technology platforms. • Experience with mobile architecture patterns such as Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM), Model-View-Presenter (MVP), or Model-View-Controller (MVC). • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for mobile applications. • Experience with cross-platform frameworks such as Flutter or React Native. • Experience with performance profiling and optimization for Android applications. How you'll work: • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
