API Testing Engineer Job Description (JD) **Job Title:** API Test Engineer / API Automation Tester **Experience:** 4 -10 Years Job Summary We are looking for an experienced API Test Engineer with strong expertise in API functional and automation testing. The candidate should have hands-on experience designing test cases, validating REST/SOAP services, automating API tests, and ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of backend services. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and execute API test cases and test scenarios. - Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end API testing. - Validate RESTful and SOAP web services. - Develop and maintain API automation frameworks. - Create and execute automated test scripts using Postman, Rest Assured, Karate, or similar tools. - Verify request/response payloads, status codes, headers, and database validations. - Identify, log, track, and verify defects using JIRA/Azure DevOps. - Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to understand requirements. - Integrate API automation suites into CI/CD pipelines. - Participate in Agile/Scrum activities and contribute to continuous quality improvement. Required Skills - Strong experience in **API Testing**. - Hands-on experience with **REST and SOAP APIs**. - Proficiency in tools such as **Postman, Swagger, SoapUI, Rest Assured, or Karate Framework**. - Experience in automation using **Java/Python**. - Good knowledge of **JSON, XML, and API authentication methods** (OAuth, JWT, Basic Authentication). - Experience with database validation using **SQL**. - Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as **Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions**. - Experience with defect-tracking tools like **JIRA**. - Understanding of Agile development methodologies. Preferred Skills - Experience in Microservices testing. - Performance testing using JMeter or LoadRunner. - Cloud platform exposure (AWS, Azure, GCP). - Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes. - Experience with contract testing tools such as Pact. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field. - Relevant experience in API Testing and Automation.
