API Testing Engineer Job Title API Testing Engineer / QA Automation Engineer Experience 4 -10 Years Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented API Testing Engineer to validate and ensure the quality, reliability, performance, and security of RESTful and SOAP APIs. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in API testing, automation, defect tracking, and collaboration with development teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and execute API test cases and test scenarios. - Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end API testing. - Validate request/response payloads, HTTP status codes, and business logic. - Create and maintain automated API test scripts. - Identify, document, and track defects using defect management tools. - Work closely with developers, business analysts, and QA teams. - Validate API performance, security, and reliability. - Analyze logs and troubleshoot issues during testing. - Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives. - Prepare test reports and communicate testing status to stakeholders. Required Skills - Strong understanding of API testing concepts. - Hands-on experience with **Postman, Swagger, SoapUI, or similar tools**. - Experience testing **REST and SOAP APIs**. - Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS protocols, JSON, XML, and REST architecture. - Experience in API automation using tools/frameworks such as: - Postman Collection Runner/Newman - Rest Assured - Karate Framework - Selenium with API integration - Knowledge of SQL and database validation. - Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps. - Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps). Preferred Skills - Performance testing using JMeter or LoadRunner. - Security testing knowledge (OAuth, JWT, API authentication). - Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP). - Knowledge of Microservices architecture. - Programming skills in Java, Python, or JavaScript. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. - Relevant QA/API testing certifications are a plus.
