**Job Title:** Compliance Independent Testing – Assistant Vice President **Department** : India CoE Compliance Hub **About Business line/Function:** India CoE Compliance Hub enables safeguarding the Group’s reputation and mitigating the risks across all business lines by supporting the Compliance functions globally. Currently, the India CoE Hub is structured into divisions aligned with the areas they serve, offering services for Group Compliance COO TOP, trade surveillance, electronic communications monitoring, transversal risk management, personal account dealing, MIS, and project support. The team collaborates closely with business partners worldwide **Position Purpose:** Independent testing of first‑ and second‑line defenses, in line with internal control procedures and regulations, across compliance domains **Responsibilities** Direct Responsibilities - Conduct independent testing of first‑ and second‑line defenses, in line with internal control procedures and regulations, across compliance domains such as Professional Ethics, Market Integrity, Client‑Interest Protection, Banking Structural Reforms, and Fiscal Laws. - Perform compliance testing of processes, policies, procedures, and controls under the team manager’s direction to evaluate adherence to regulatory mandates and internal firm policies. - Execute, formalize and report on assigned tasks and controls within control testing responsibility. - Thoroughly review all supporting evidence gathered from 1LoD/ local compliance teams to conduct effective control testing. - Escalate identified weaknesses to the team manager for discussion and, if needed, further investigation. - Draft and validate issues and recommendations addressing the root cause of the issues with stakeholders. - Ensure that every finding and recommendation is recorded in the designated tracking system, conduct periodic follow‑ups with stakeholders on open issues, and review/validate closure evidence to confirm proper resolution. - Adhere strictly to control execution timelines to prevent reporting delays. - Work closely with your on‑shore counterpart and give real‑time updates on control‑testing progress. - Assist with the preparation of monthly/quarterly reports and related metrics. - Assist line manager in overseeing ISPL‑level activities. - Act as a point of contact in the manager’s absence, making decisions within delegated authority. Contributing Responsibilities - Adhere to BNP Paribas Group procedures, applicable policies, regulations and industry best practices. - Collaborate closely with team members and relevant stakeholders. - Coach, mentor, and train employees on policies, procedures, and best practices. - Remain supportive and adaptable to procedural changes and evolving scopes of work. **Technical & Behavioral Competencies** - Minimum 12 years of experience in a financial‑services firm or self‑regulatory organization, specializing in compliance monitoring/testing, internal audit, or a related regulatory role. - Solid understanding of capital‑markets and investment‑banking activities, plus the regulatory framework that governs them. - Strong analytical and organizational skills, effective project‑management capabilities, and meticulous attention to detail. - Proven problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, investigative and root‑cause analysis abilities. - Excellent execution skills with a track record of meeting tight deadlines. - Collaborative team player who works well across the Compliance function. - Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills - High ethical standards and integrity. - Flexible and able to adapt quickly to evolving environments. **Specific Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university - Audit experience or qualifications in finance/accounting - Familiarity with compliance domains such as Market Integrity, Financial Security, and Professional Ethics - ICA or ACAMS‑equivalent certification (preferred) **Technical Skills** **Skills Referential** **(** **Required knowledge, skills and abilities)** - Basic knowledge on AI - Advanced computer proficiency: MS Excel (including macros), Word, PowerPoint; familiarity with Power BI is a plus. **Behavioral Skills** - Strong collaborative and teamwork abilities - Meticulous attention to detail and a rigorous approach - Sound decision‑making capabilities - Excellent oral and written communication skills **Education Level:** Bachelor Degree or equivalent **Location:** Mumbai **About BNP Paribas Group** BNP Paribas is the European Union’s leading bank and key player in international banking.
