Position Summary The Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Electrical Subject Manager is responsible for providing technical leadership, governance, and delivery assurance for all electrical systems on data center construction projects delivered under a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) model. Acting as the client’s technical representative for electrical scopes, the role ensures that electrical design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities meet project requirements, industry standards, and mission-critical performance expectations. The position works closely with Project Managers, Project Directors, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure coordinated, compliant, and high-quality delivery across one or multiple data center projects. 2. Key Responsibilities Electrical Scope Leadership • Lead and manage all electrical aspects of data center projects from design development through construction, commissioning, and handover. • Provide technical governance and assurance across electrical systems to ensure alignment with client standards, operational requirements, and project objectives. • Act as the primary technical authority for electrical matters within the PMC delivery team. Design Review & Technical Approvals • Review and provide technical input on electrical designs, specifications, calculations, and single-line diagrams. • Review and comment on shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and installation proposals. • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and data center best practices. • Support resolution of design-related issues and clarifications during construction. Contractor & Consultant Coordination • Coordinate closely with electrical contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary consultants. • Monitor contractor execution to ensure compliance with approved designs, quality standards, and safety requirements. • Participate in technical workshops, coordination meetings, and site progress reviews. • Manage interfaces between electrical systems and other disciplines including mechanical, ICT, controls, fire systems, and civil works. • Support timely resolution of technical and interface issues on site. Construction Oversight, Testing & Commissioning • Provide on-site technical oversight during installation, testing, and commissioning activities. • Review and approve inspection and test plans (ITPs), factory acceptance tests (FATs), site acceptance tests (SATs), and commissioning procedures. • Support integrated systems testing (IST) and end-to-end power system validation. • Ensure electrical systems are delivered in line with redundancy, resilience, and reliability requirements. • Support readiness-for-operations and smooth transition to facilities and operations teams. Risk, Quality & Safety Support • Identify electrical-related risks and support mitigation planning. • Ensure adherence to quality assurance processes and technical compliance requirements. • Support safety reviews, audits, and incident investigations related to electrical works. • Assist in resolving non-conformances, defects, and punch list items prior to handover. 3. Technical Expertise (Data Center Focus) • Data center and mission-critical electrical infrastructure delivery. • HV and LV power distribution systems. • UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, PDUs, and RPPs. • Electrical redundancy architectures (N, N+1, 2N, distributed redundancy). • Grounding and earthing systems, lightning protection, and power quality. • Electrical system protection, coordination, and selectivity. • Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier I–IV standards. • Knowledge of relevant international and local electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NFPA, local regulations). 4. Qualifications & Experience Education • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline. Experience • 15–20 years of overall experience in electrical engineering or electrical systems delivery. • Direct experience on data center or mission-critical infrastructure projects. • Proven experience supporting full project lifecycle delivery, from design through commissioning and handover. Professional Certifications (Preferred, Not Mandatory) • Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent. • Data center–related certification
