This role is centered on advancing product discovery, measurement, testing, and predictive modeling to enhance business growth, as well as conducting custom analytics to uncover actionable insights that drive success for our business partners. You'll also contribute directly bridging the gap between eBay's data warehouse and AI-powered decision-making tools used across the company. You'll help motivate change and improve decision-making through data-driven analyses, deep business understanding, rigorous truth-seeking, and impactful insights. In this highly visible and cross-functional role, you'll collaborate with product and business leaders, as well as teams across the company, to evaluate existing programs, develop new analytical solutions, and identify innovative growth opportunities. You'll be surrounded by a diverse, intellectually curious, and fast-moving team of professionals passionate about making an impact at scale. The role spans both analytical depth (custom insights, trend analysis) and ML engineering (model building, deployment). ****What You'll Accomplish**** - Partner with product, business, and analytics stakeholders to understand key initiatives and deliver insights that influence strategic decisions. - Design, build, and scale eBay's internal AI analytics platform — including NL-to-SQL pipelines, domain knowledge bases, query validation layers, and auto-refreshing dashboard infrastructure. - Drive the development and implementation of predictive models and advanced analytics to improve targeting and measurement across eBay's Focus Category domains. - Develop and execute experiments and tests to measure business impact and identify new opportunities for growth. - Architect and maintain AI deployment pipelines — taking LLM-powered features from prototype to production, including prompt engineering, context management, tool orchestration, and response reliability at scale. - Communicate analytical results clearly, translating complex data findings into actionable recommendations for senior leadership. - Serve as a trusted data expert, integrating diverse data sources to uncover trends and patterns that inform business strategy. - Build interactive, data-rich dashboards and front-end experiences using JavaScript and modern charting libraries (ECharts, Plotly) that make complex data accessible to non-technical users. - Contribute to a culture of data excellence and continuous learning within the Decision Sciences team. ****What You'll Bring**** **Core Requirements** - Exceptional business judgment and strong quantitative problem-solving skills. - Proven experience distilling complex analytical findings into clear, action-oriented insights. - Strong communication and storytelling abilities across executive and cross-functional audiences. - Expertise in building and deploying machine learning models and driving their adoption within business workflows. - Proficiency in SQL (SparkSQL / Hive preferred) and Python — used daily for data pipelines, ML model development, and AI backend engineering. - Working knowledge of JavaScript — for building interactive dashboards, wiring front-end data visualizations, and contributing to CodeBlack's hosted analytics interfaces. - Solid grounding in both descriptive and inferential statistics. - Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, ECharts, or Plotly. - Practical experience applying modern AI/ML techniques to solve complex business problems, particularly in e-commerce product discovery or personalization. - Demonstrated ability to transition ML models from research/prototype to production-ready systems, including proficiency with cloud-based ML platforms. - Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborators in a dynamic environment. - BTech/MTech/MBA/MSc in Statistics, Applied Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. - 3–6 years of relevant professional experience. - A genuine passion for eBay's mission and our vibrant marketplace. **Preferred / Strong Differentiators** - Hands-on experience with LLMs (Claude, GPT, or similar) — including prompt engineering, function/tool calling, context window management, and building reliable AI pipelines. - Caching strategy design — experience implementing intelligent caching layers (query result
