Job Title: Assistant Vice President/ Vice President **Department** : BSO **About Business line/Function:** Local settlements **Position Purpose:** The Assistant Vice President serves as the operational command center for the end‑to‑end settlement of client trades—including bonds, equities, complex securities and repos—within the designated Settlement Centre. Acting as the single point of contact for both external clients and internal stakeholders, you will translate business requirements into precise, timely settlement outcomes while upholding the highest standards of risk control and data integrity. In this capacity you will lead a team of associates, embed a culture of urgency and meticulous attention to detail, and ensure that all activities are fully aligned with BNP Paribas’ operational framework and service‑level agreements. By delivering seamless settlement execution, you protect client assets, safeguard the firm’s reputation, and contribute directly to the firm’s strategic growth in the region. **Responsibilities** Primary Responsibilities - Settlement Accuracy & Timeliness: All cash‑ and securities‑settlements for the APAC markets must settle within the agreed‑upon cycle (e.g., T+2). Sign off the daily checklist and handle any exception escalations. - Risk & Compliance Control: Serve as definitive risk owner for settlement‑related AML, sanctions, and market‑infrastructure rules (CSD, clearing‑house). certify that controls are in place, that daily exception reports are reviewed, and that audit findings are closed. - Team Performance & Development: Define quantitative and qualitative performance targets for the settlement team, monitor results, and deliver structured coaching and development plans for junior staff. - Regulatory & Statutory Reporting: Oversee the preparation and sign‑off all settlement data required for local CSD reporting and other statutory filings, ensuring accuracy and punctuality. - Business Continuity & Governance: Maintain the Settlement‑Ops Business Continuity Plan, escalation matrices, and process documentation. Coordinate for periodic testing and signing off the plan. Direct Responsibilities - Operational Reporting: Produce daily/weekly settlement dashboards (settled vs. failed, turnaround time, exception root‑cause breakdown) and circulate to senior management. - Client Escalation Handling: Act as the senior escalation point of contact for internal/external client queries on settlement status; provide root‑cause explanations and remediation timelines. - Process‑Improvement Initiatives: Lead projects from requirement gathering through UAT and rollout. - Stakeholder Coordination: Convene and chair regular settlement‑team meetings, aligning resources, priorities and issue‑resolution strategies across operations, risk and IT. - Quality‑Control Reviews: Perform spot‑checks on settlement process, verify that audit trails are complete and enforce adherence to documented controls. Contributing Responsibilities - Daily Ops & Controls – Track daily reports, work on break clearance, run ORUS checks and perform Checklist‑ sign‑off. - MIS & KPI/KRI Reporting – Deliver regular MIS packs, KPI/KRI dashboards, operational reports and monthly highlights to management. - Talent Mentoring – Coach associates, nurture talent, boost morale and drive performance improvements. - BIA Maintenance – Keep the Business Impact Analysis template current and forward it to the BCM/BCP team. - BCP Knowledge & Governance – Maintain full understanding of BCP controls and follow BCP governance/protocols. **Desired Skills** - Settlement Expertise: In-depth knowledge of settlement cycles, platforms (SD‑1, SD, SWIFT) and product mechanics across equities, fixed income, derivatives, FX, repo, securities lending - Strong risk‑awareness: Ability to spot and mitigate operational/reputational issues; understand key regulations (CSDR, MAS) regimes. - People Leadership: Demonstrate experience in performance management, coaching, talent development and attrition monitoring. - Excellent communication: Produce clear escalation reporting, stakeholder relationship building with front‑office, custodians, clearing houses, tech partners. - Project/change management: Track record of delivering process improvements, system upgrades, meet SLA targets. Technical & Behavioral Competencies - Data Mastery – Analyze, organize and report large data sets efficiently; advanced Excel proficiency (macros, VBA) and solid data‑handling expertise - Resilience Under Pressure – Remain reactive, disciplined and focused on excellence when handling high‑volume, time‑critical situations. - Procedural Discipline – Follow procedures and compliance policies meticulously; uphold a culture of zero‑tolerance for breaches. - Leadership Presence – Motivate staff, resolve conflicts, make tough people decisions and inspire confidence across the organization. **Specific Qualifications** - Graduates / Postgraduates (Preferably Finance background). - Candidates should be willing and flexible to work in any shift. - Relevant work experience in the Trade settlements / Custody activity / Investment banking with at least 9+ years relevant experience. **Skills Referential (Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities)** **Transversal & Behavioral Competencies:** - Clear, concise communication; effective escalation reporting. - Strong stakeholder management – Front‑office, custodians, regulators, senior leadership. - Collaborative teamwork across operations, risk, compliance and IT. - High integrity; strict adherence to compliance and risk frameworks. - Continuous learning – Stay updated on products, settlement tools and regulations. - Constructive Conflict Resolution – Preserve team morale while addressing issues directly - Leadership presence – inspire confidence, give direction, make tough people decisions. - Process‑improvement mindset – Identify inefficiencies and drive automation/control
