**Role Title:** AVP, Web Engineer III - Apply and Buy Digital apps (L10) **Role Summary/Purpose:** AVP, Web Engineer III will be responsible for development and support of Web based digital applications and delivering high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate would be part of a major technology transformation team responsible for moving towards cloud platform in micro services architecture using Spring Frameworks, in memory data grid, micro-front ends, React JS, responsive design etc leveraging latest AI tools and capabilities. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead the design and delivery of new web solutions/platforms and enhancements, partnering with product/requirements analysts, QA, and customers within an Agile delivery model. - Own technical solutioning: translate business requirements into architecture, functional flows, and technical specifications; ensure alignment with enterprise standards. - Provide technical leadership for mission-critical web applications/services, including hands-on guidance for complex components and integration points. - Drive estimation and delivery planning with the team; manage technical dependencies/risks and represent engineering in project meetings and solution discussions. - Ensure engineering excellence: code quality, performance, security, resiliency, and maintainability through reviews, standards, and best practices. - Establish and enforce engineering practices for documentation, code reuse, refactoring, and design patterns; govern adherence across the team. - Ensure internally developed applications meet high standards for availability, scalability, extensibility, and operational readiness (monitoring, alerting, supportability). - Lead and coordinate a blended team (Synchrony and vendor engineers), providing direction, mentoring, and alignment on ways of working. - Define and track measurable team goals (delivery, quality, reliability, and productivity metrics) and drive continuous improvement. - Communicate delivery status, technical decisions, and trade-offs to stakeholders and leadership; escalate risks with mitigation plans. - Stay current on emerging technologies and evaluate adoption opportunities, while ensuring strong proficiency and stability in the existing stack. **Qualifications/Requirements:** - Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience, with 4+ years in software engineering and 2+ years in a technical leadership/lead engineer role. or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of relevant experience - Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring/Spring Boot, and React JS, with proven ability to lead design and implementation for complex web applications. - Solid experience with modern architecture patterns (REST APIs, event-driven systems), and building mission-critical services with high availability and performance. - Experience with Micro-Frontends (preferred) and front-end architecture, including shared components, governance, and build/deploy strategies. - Working knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native practices (preferred), including security, scalability, and cost-aware design. - Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps practices; ability to influence release strategy and improve engineering productivity. - Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL data stores, data modeling, and performance tuning. - Strong understanding of SDLC (Agile), release management, and change/incident management; comfortable leading technical ceremonies (grooming, design reviews, retros). **Desired Skills/Knowledge:** Excellent verbal/written communication, stakeholder management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills; able to articulate technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
