Role Overview We are looking for a Backend Python Engineer with 3+ years of hands-on development experience to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs. The ideal candidate should have strong Python fundamentals, experience building production-grade backend applications, and a good understanding of DevOps, cloud infrastructure, containers, and CI/CD practices. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python. • Build and maintain REST APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django. • Write clean, modular, maintainable, and well-tested production code. • Design and optimize database interactions using PostgreSQL/MySQL or similar relational databases. • Work with asynchronous programming, background jobs, queues, and caching where required. • Troubleshoot application performance, API latency, memory, and production issues. • Implement authentication, authorization, API security, logging, and error handling. • Containerize applications using Docker. • Work with CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, and deployment. • Deploy and support applications in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP. • Understand and work with Linux environments, networking, environment configuration, and application monitoring. • Collaborate with frontend developers, architects, QA, and DevOps teams. Required Technical Skills Backend • 3+ years of software development experience with strong hands-on Python expertise. • Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, exception handling, concurrency, and asynchronous programming. • Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django. • Strong understanding of REST API design and development. • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar databases. • Understanding of database design, indexing, transactions, and query optimization. • Experience with Git and standard software development practices. • Experience writing unit and integration tests using tools such as pytest. DevOps / Cloud • Good understanding of Docker and containerized deployments. • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar. • Comfortable working with Linux and basic shell commands. • Understanding of cloud concepts including VMs, networking, load balancers, storage, and security. • Basic understanding of Kubernetes is desirable. • Understanding of application monitoring, centralized logging, and troubleshooting production deployments. Good to Have • Experience with Redis and message queues/background workers such as Celery. • Experience building high-concurrency or asynchronous applications. • Knowledge of Nginx/reverse proxies and API gateways. • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform. • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, OCI, Azure, or GCP. • Exposure to LLM/Generative AI APIs and integrating AI services with backend applications would be an advantage.
