Business Analyst Ocean Freight & Container Logistics **Job Title:** Business Analyst **Location:** Bengaluru **Experience:** 8+ Years Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong domain expertise in Ocean Freight and Container Logistics. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, operations teams, and technology teams to analyze business requirements, define solutions, and drive digital transformation initiatives across shipping and logistics operations. Key Responsibilities - Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders across ocean freight and logistics operations. - Conduct requirement workshops, gap analysis, process mapping, and solution design sessions. - Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria. - Collaborate with product, engineering, and QA teams throughout the SDLC. - Support Agile delivery by participating in sprint planning, backlog grooming, UAT, and release activities. - Analyze operational processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, visibility, and customer experience. - Facilitate stakeholder communication and ensure alignment between business and technology teams. - Track project deliverables, risks, dependencies, and business outcomes. Mandatory Skills & Domain Expertise Ocean Freight - Strong understanding of end-to-end Ocean Freight operations including import/export processes. - Knowledge of freight booking, shipment planning, vessel allocation, and cargo movement tracking. Container Lifecycle Management - Expertise in container lifecycle processes from container release, pickup, stuffing, movement, transshipment, unloading, return, and closure. - Understanding of container status tracking and event management. Booking Management - Experience in booking creation, amendment, confirmation, cancellation, allocation, and capacity management. - Knowledge of customer booking workflows and carrier interactions. Equipment Management - Understanding of container equipment types, availability, utilization, maintenance, and repositioning. - Experience with equipment inventory and operational planning. Vessel Schedules - Knowledge of vessel scheduling, route planning, voyage management, port rotation, and schedule changes. - Understanding of shipping line operational processes. Terminal Operations - Experience with port and terminal processes including gate operations, yard management, loading/unloading activities, and terminal coordination. - Understanding of container handling workflows and operational events. Inland Transportation - Knowledge of multimodal transportation including trucking, rail, and inland container depot operations. - Experience in planning and tracking inland container movements. Shipping Documentation - Strong understanding of shipping documents including Bill of Lading (B/L), Shipping Instructions, Delivery Orders, Manifest, Arrival Notices, and Customs-related documentation. - Experience in documentation workflows, compliance, and exception handling. Additional Business Analyst Skills - Requirements Gathering & Analysis - BRD, FRD, User Story and Use Case Documentation - Process Modeling (BPMN, Visio, Lucidchart, etc.) - Stakeholder Management - Gap Analysis & Impact Assessment - UAT Planning and Execution - Agile/Scrum Methodology - Data Analysis and Reporting - JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps or similar tools Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related discipline. - Experience working with shipping lines, freight forwarders, logistics providers, terminal operators, or supply chain technology platforms. - Exposure to digital transformation, transportation management systems (TMS), or logistics platforms.
