Job description

Key Responsibilities - Design and develop customer-specific damper architectures including mono-tube, twin-tube shocks, and strut assemblies. - Support damper architecture selection based on vehicle performance targets, packaging constraints, cost, mass, and durability. - Interface with vehicle system, ride handling, CAE, testing, and manufacturing teams to ensure damper integration at vehicle level. - Design and optimize damper valving systems including piston valves, base valves, and rebound/compression systems. - Support valve tuning iterations based on simulation, damper dyno testing, and vehicle test feedback. - Create, modify, and release 3D models and 2D drawings using CATIA / NX. - Ensure adherence to ISO drawing standards, GDT requirements, and customer-specific drafting guidelines. - Manage detailed component drawings for pistons, valves, rods, tubes, seals, springs, brackets, and sub-assemblies. - Own end-to-end damper product development from concept, design freeze, validation, to SOP. - Conduct design feasibility studies, benchmarking, and technical trade-off analyses. - Ensure designs meet performance, durability, NVH, corrosion, environmental, and safety requirements. - Support DFMEA, DVPR, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP activities for suspension and damper systems. - Manage engineering changes (ECR/ECO) and perform impact analysis on performance, cost, tooling, and validation. - Drive cost optimization and VA/VE activities while maintaining performance and quality targets. Basic Qualifications - Work experience in suspension system and/or damper (shock absorber / strut) design and development for automotive applications (OEM or Tier-1). - Strong CAD skills hands-on experience using CATIA V5 / NX. - Proficient in solid modeling, surfacing, large assemblies, and 2D drawing creation for suspension and damper components. - Experience in suspension component detailing including dampers (mono-tube, twin-tube), struts, pistons, valves, rods, tubes, springs, bushings, and mounting interfaces. - Experience with PLM / PDM systems such as ENOVIA, Teamcenter, SmarTeam, or Windchill, including design release, change management, and configuration control. - Experience supporting DFMEA, DVPR, PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP activities for suspension or damper systems.
