Job description

The Construction Project Manager Electrical is a seasoned subject matter expert, responsible for overall project success, including project oversight, direction, and strategy over multiple data center construction projects of significant value, particularly relating to safety, schedule, scope, budget, and quality. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** - Lead a team of professionals to safely deliver major capital construction projects of significant value to support the acquisition of new clients. - Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, operations, finance, and internal department leaders to assure project team fulfils the mission and objectives of the capital projects. - Direct and support project teams in the preparation and execution of tasks throughout all phases of the project process; includes identifying scopes of work, resource requirements, cost estimates and budgets, work plan schedule and milestones, quality control, and risk mitigation. - Oversee General Contractor, direct contractors (e.g., Commissioning Agents), third-party testing agencies, project controls, and MEP teams to ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget. - Act as primary liaison to the Design Managers to coordinate Architecture/Engineering activities in a timely manner. - Integrate Subject Matter Experts, internal and customer stakeholders to support design and lead construction teams to create a master development program for sites. - Support Design team leadership for environmental, entitlement, and permitting requirements. - Provide guidance to project delivery teams to achieve project goals and implement communication plans (meetings, reports, minutes). - Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for contractors, subcontractors, and specialty vendors. - Facilitate project meetings and ensure governance of documentation aligns with company requirements. - Report status and variances; create action plans to meet objectives, budget, and schedule. - Implement change management processes, assess change requests, and manage approvals and execution. - Assess impacts of changes to scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk. - Optimize project cost effectiveness through constructability reviews and Value Engineering (VE). - Manage project-level tasks including contract status, financial tracking, scheduling (EVM), submittals, and final handover documentation. - Implement financial controls including payments, claims, change management, and contract closeout. - Validate drawings and specifications to ensure required construction quality and remediation where necessary. - Ensure all field installations comply with design requirements. - Develop and monitor systems to ensure the highest safety standards from start to finish. - Provide leadership to ensure contractors and suppliers follow safety best practices. - Manage risk, insurance, and liability controls for assigned projects. - Lead construction management meetings (OAC, Design, MEP, ACx, etc.). - Present executive summaries and status reports to senior leadership. - Support sales and marketing teams onsite when engaging prospective clients. **KNOWLEDGE & ATTRIBUTES** - Experienced professional with deep domain knowledge and specialization. - Strong decision-making using evaluation, judgment, and interpretation. - Strong understanding of Project Management, Planning, Construction Management, and Data Centres. - Demonstrated leadership with Owners, Architects, Contractors, and stakeholders. - Expertise in contract types (lump sum, GMP, design-build, etc.), EVM methods, and payment systems. - Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and value engineering. - Familiarity with all aspects of development and construction (civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, utilities, finishes). - Ability to work in international teams and engage with senior leadership, including C-suite. - Strong executive presence and ability to communicate complex concepts simply. - Highly organized, analytical, with strong communication and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work effectively under pressure. - Knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations including fire protection. - Proficiency in Primavera, MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. - Understanding of Lean Construction principles. - Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems quality and commissioning in mission-critical facilities. **ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS** - **Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering** - Relevant building environment accreditations such as LEED, SITES, TRUE, WELL, etc. **REQUIRED EXPERIENCE** - **Minimum 7 years experience in Electrical Project Management role** - Extensive experience in general or specialty construction project management. - **Min 4 years experience in data centre or mission-critical facility construction.** - Experience managing high-value construction projects. - Experience working in urban environments with complex logistics and fast-track schedules. - Strong background in construction management, capital budgeting, and MEP systems. - Experience managing multiple large-scale construction projects (mission-critical or infrastructure preferred).
