The role provides an opportunity to develop the following; • Further development of a set of core finance skills, including accounting and reporting, Governance, risk & assurance and stakeholder management which are critical to building a career in finance; • Structuring and financing expertise in a large multinational organisation with a specific focus on treasury transactions; Corporate Controller is a key role in the Corporate Holding and Treasury (CHT) team providing financial expertise and core capabilities in the financial management of Shell's critical Corporate companies. The role has a wide number of interfaces into the Holding and Treasury organisation including Tax, Legal, Treasury and Finance Operations. The role provides experience in a set of core finance competences, including accounting and reporting, GRA and stakeholder management, which are critical to building a finance career. As Corporate Controller, you will be sitting within the CHT Controllers team in Chennai, as part of our Centre of Expertise (CoE) for technical accounting, risk management and Group structuring. With your focus on financial management, you can expect to be working closely with Treasury, Group Reporting, Statutory Auditors, Tax and Legal.  What you’ll be doing This role will provide expert advice and guidance on technical accounting, across multiple Shell financing activities and businesses. As our ‘voice’ of Finance, you’ll quickly understand and guide on the best solutions that will achieve business objectives, add value and drive effective risk management. With an ever-changing business environment, your insight and experience will be essential to prioritise activities according to opportunity and risk. More specific duties might include: • Providing expert accounting advice to project teams to ensure that transactions are appropriately reported and understood • Responsibility for a number of key corporate areas of subject matter expertise • Providing expert functional input and review of Group Financing Proposals to support quality decision making. • Supervision and delivery of accurate and timely Corporate segment reporting, working closely with a small team in R&A, Group Reporting and Investor Relations to deliver accurate, transparent reporting and associated business performance interventions. • Ensuring an appropriate control framework is in place for risk management • Appropriately involving other teams to support financial activities, whilst building overall accountability. • Providing expert Finance Advisor support across a wide range of connected areas such as risk management and group structuring. • Support and coaching, as a more senior member of the controllers team, to other more junior team members through projects and other initiatives. What you bring • You’ll be an expert on technical accounting, supporting direction on a range of technical issues, and helping to implement new financial structures and reporting standards. Your excellent communication skills will be vital to the role, ensuring you effectively articulate value and risks to influence decision making and drive performance whilst also playing an important part in training and giving context to a wide range of stakeholders. • You will be a qualified Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) with 10-12 years post qualification experience. • Expertise across the spectrum of Finance competences. • Experience in risk management and corporate structuring would be an advantage • A proven record of continuous improvement. • An ability to use analytics and insights to resolve problems, with a view to influencing and supporting the decision-making process and risk management. • Skills within project management. Functional Skills • Technical Accounting and Reporting - SME on multiple technical issues; reviews financing proposals; ensures accurate corporate reporting. • Treasury and Financing expertise - Guides on financing proposals; supports entity structuring and optimisation. • Risk management and Controls - Designs and ensures strong control frameworks; manages entity-specific risks. • Corporate Reporting - Supervises segment reporting; liaises within R&A and with Group Reporting. • Business Partnering - Advises on multiple financing initiatives; influences senior stakeholders. • Process Improvemen
