About the role: The Insights and Product Analytics team (IPA) organization is responsible for business performance of all research products and performs analysis related to all aspects of Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights business unit. The Retention Analytics and Applied IVR team within IPA is at the forefront of harnessing the latest analytics and AI advancements to define paths to higher client retention. The team leads analytics across several fronts spanning content, interactions, conferences and all other Gartner client facing assets. The team also leads critical pillars like associate performance analytics, budget and financial analysis (in partnership with the finance organization). We are looking for a Lead Data Analyst who is a strategic thinker, analytical innovator, and proven leader capable of driving complex workstreams independently. In this role, you will bridge executive business strategy with advanced analytics, spearhead novel methodologies, and expand our team’s overall technical capability while delivering actionable insights directly to executive leadership. What you will do : • Independently own and drive complex problem structuring, advanced analysis, and end-to-end execution of high-impact, cross-organizational deliverables. • Partner with Data Science, Data Engineering, and business leadership to architect scalable, advanced analytics solutions that directly boost client retention. • Champion innovation by pioneering new ways to harness Gartner’s proprietary data, establishing team-wide best practices, and expanding our overall analytical capabilities. • Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, proactively anticipating pain points and designing strategic solutions to meet executive needs. • Mentor and elevate team member, instilling technical rigor, code quality, and strategic problem-solving methodologies. What you will need: • Experience: 5-7 years of progressive experience in business analytics, with a proven track record of independently leading strategic workstreams and expanding team capabilities. • Data Science & Strategy: Deep understanding of data science concepts and advanced analytics, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex technical models into executive business strategy. • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required (Master’s preferred) in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related quantitative field. • Technical Mastery: Expert technical capability to analyze, model, and visualize complex, multi-dimensional datasets. • Programming Proficiency: Handson experience in SQL and Python or R, with the ability to oversee code quality. • Innovation & Problem Solving: Proven track record of exceptional problem solving, critical thinking, and driving innovative analytics methods that deliver high business impact. • Statistical Analysis: Strong understanding of statistical concepts, hypothesis testing, and trend identification, with the ability to mitigate bias using standard quantitative methodologies. • Quality & Mentorship: Uncompromising standards for data hygiene, quality control, and technical documentation, with a focus on raising the bar for the broader team. • Tools: Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, capable of building executive-ready presentations and analytical models. • Executive Influence & Collaboration: Exceptional ability to lead, influence, and align matrixed cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders based on data-driven narratives. • Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills—structured, compelling, and tailored for C-suite and senior leadership audiences.
