Job Description - -------------- **CPG Data Domain Product Owner** *Domain Consulting --- CPG Data \& Analytics Practice* Owns a CPG client's functional data domain (e.g., PLM, MDM, Demand/Supply, O2C) on behalf of the Data \& Analytics consulting practice --- translating business process, category, and industry knowledge into the data and product priorities the client actually needs. This is a domain/functional consulting role: the anchor is business process expertise and stakeholder judgment, with enough fluency in data concepts to brief and direct a technical delivery team. **Key Responsibilities** **Domain \& Process Consulting** * Bring deep functional knowledge of the assigned CPG domain (PLM, MDM, Demand/Supply, or O2C) --- its business process, industry terminology, and typical pain points --- to frame the client's problem correctly before solutioning starts. * Diagnose gaps between the client's current business process and industry-standard/best-practice ways of working; translate these into a prioritized improvement and data agenda. * Own the product vision and roadmap for the domain, defending it against competing client priorities using business rationale, not just delivery capacity. **Business Case \& Stakeholder Management** * Lead discovery workshops with client business and IT leadership to surface decision drivers, functional requirements, and desired business outcomes. * Build and defend the business case for each initiative --- value drivers, adoption risk, and change impact --- in language a client sponsor (not a technical audience) will act on. * Federate Global/Local business stakeholders, client IT, and the delivery team into one agreed plan; hold the line on scope and business intent through delivery. **Requirements \& Adoption** * Translate business needs into clear functional requirements (process, rules, decision logic, exceptions) for the delivery team to build against --- staying accountable for business intent, not the technical spec itself. * Define what good looks like for adoption --- usability, trust in the output, and change-readiness --- not just technical acceptance criteria. * Drive adoption through an MVP-first, test-and-learn approach; manage the product/process through its full lifecycle from pilot to scaled rollout. **Industry \& Practice Contribution** * Bring outside-in perspective --- benchmark peer CPG companies and leading practices to keep the client's roadmap current. * Build reusable domain frameworks, playbooks, and points of view that strengthen the practice's credibility in this functional area. * Mentor junior consultants on domain knowledge and client stakeholder management; contribute to proposal/pre-sales narratives in this domain. **Candidate Profile** * 5 years in CPG/FMCG business consulting, functional process ownership, or industry practitioner roles (not primarily technical/engineering roles); bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred. * Deep functional expertise in at least one core CPG domain --- PLM (ingredients, formulation, BOM, packaging), MDM/master data governance, Demand/Supply Planning (S\&OP/IBP), or O2C --- from either industry or consulting experience. * Track record leading business process diagnosis and redesign, and building the case for change with senior client stakeholders. * Comfortable directing (not personally executing) technical/data delivery teams --- able to sanity-check a technical approach against business intent without writing specs or code. * Strong workshop facilitation, executive communication, and stakeholder management across Global/Local business and IT. * Familiarity with common enterprise platforms in the domain (e.g., PLM/MDM tools, planning platforms, ERP) at a functional, not configuration, level. **What Sets You Apart** * Thinks and speaks like a domain expert first, technologist second --- leads with process and business outcome, not tooling. * Builds trust with senior client stakeholders fast; earns the right to challenge their thinking on process and priorities. * Converts ambiguous business pain into a crisp, defensible roadmap without waiting for the technical team to define the problem.
