Job description

**Job Title: SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)** We are looking for an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing database environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance tuning, security, and automation of database operations. **Key Responsibilities** **1. Database Administration** - Manage installation, configuration, and upgrades of SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) - Oversee instance-level configurations, filegroups, and storage optimization - Ensure database health, performance, and availability **2. Performance Optimization** - Conduct query tuning using DMVs, Query Store, and execution plans - Implement indexing strategies to improve performance - Identify and resolve issues such as parameter sniffing and blocking **3. High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR)** - Design and maintain Always On Availability Groups, clustering, and log shipping - Execute disaster recovery drills and ensure compliance with RPO/RTO targets - Monitor and enhance availability architecture **4. Backup & Restore** - Define, implement, and enforce backup policies - Validate restore processes through periodic testing - Ensure data integrity and recoverability **5. Security & Compliance** - Implement Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and encryption standards - Manage role-based access control and database security - Enable auditing and ensure compliance with regulatory policies **6. Automation & Scripting** - Develop PowerShell scripts for operational efficiency - Automate monitoring, patching, alerts, and maintenance tasks - Work with automation tools such as Ansible **7. Cloud & Modernization** - Lead database migrations to Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or Managed Instance - Optimize cost and performance in hybrid/cloud environments - Support modernization initiatives **8. Incident & Change Management** - Handle P1/P2 incidents and perform root cause analysis (RCA) - Implement preventive and corrective actions - Follow ITIL-based change management processes for deployments **Required Skills & Qualifications :-** - Expert-level knowledge of SQL Server architecture and internals - Strong experience in HA/DR, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. - Hands-on experience with: - Always On, clustering, log shipping - DMVs, Query Store, execution plans - Proficiency inPowerShell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Ansible) - Familiarity with AWS cloud platform - Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Agent job management **Certifications (Preferred)** - Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
