**Job Overview** We are seeking an experienced **Department Manager - Merchandise Management** to join our team at **METRO Cash & Carry India in Ahmedabad, Gujarat**. This full-time Manager-level position requires **5 to 8 years of experience**, preferably in the retail sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving floor operations across Food & Non-Food departments, ensuring optimum inventory management, achieving sales targets, leading high-performing teams, and delivering an exceptional customer experience while upholding METRO's operational standards. **Job Responsibilities** - **Store Operations Management:** Expertise in managing end-to-end floor operations while ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and company policies. - **Inventory Management:** Strong capability in stock planning, inventory control, goods receiving, replenishment, perpetual inventory, annual inventory, and expiry management. - **Sales Management:** Ability to drive sales performance through effective planning, forecasting, budgeting, and execution of business strategies. - **Visual Merchandising:** Expertise in maintaining attractive product displays and ensuring optimum product visibility to enhance customer engagement. - **Customer Service:** Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer experience by understanding customer needs and implementing service improvement initiatives. - **Leadership:** Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams to achieve departmental and store objectives. - **Promotional Planning:** Experience in planning, executing, and evaluating promotional activities to improve product awareness, sales, and brand visibility. - **Analytical & Problem Solving:** Ability to analyze business performance, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions to enhance operational efficiency. **Roles and Responsibilities** - Plan, administer, and implement business strategies to achieve departmental sales, profitability, and operational targets. - Lead and manage the Merchandise team by driving performance, coaching team members, and fostering a collaborative work environment. - Drive floor operations across Food and Non-Food departments while ensuring compliance with company policies, operational standards, and SOPs. - Ensure optimum stock availability through effective inventory planning, replenishment, goods receiving, expiry management, perpetual inventory, and annual inventory processes. - Monitor sales trends, prepare sales forecasts, manage stock planning, and support budgeting activities to maximize business performance. - Plan, execute, and evaluate promotional activities to increase product awareness, improve off-take, and strengthen brand visibility. - Maintain high standards of visual merchandising and product hygiene by ensuring attractive displays and timely replacement of defective or damaged stocks. - Enhance customer satisfaction by implementing service improvement initiatives and promptly addressing customer requirements and concerns. - Coordinate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency, market share, and overall business performance. - Analyze business performance, inventory, and sales metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive sustainable business growth.
