Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it. **Role Definition** Serve as a senior technical individual contributor with full accountability for the end‑to‑end electrical design and development of large (>2 MW) diesel genset packages. Lead and deliver complex, high‑impact engineering initiatives, driving technical excellence from concept definition through detailed design, rigorous validation, and successful global production release. **Responsibilities:** - Lead design and development of electrical Genset package from concept selection through detailed design, ensuring compliance with Caterpillar’s engineering standards and regional regulations. - **Technical Expertise:** Provide strong technical leadership with deep knowledge of engineering fundamentals, electrical architecture design using complex technical principles. - **Manufacturing**: In-depth knowledge of electrical designs (schematics, harnesses, control panels, switchgear layouts), component selection, electrical assembly practices, engineering drawings, manufacturing processes and package Bill of Material (BOM). - **Interface & Cross Functional Collaboration:** Lead interface management across global cross functional engineering teams and suppliers to ensure holistic electrical package fitment, system integration, and functional integrity throughout the product lifecycle. - **Design Optimization:** Apply engineering principles and analytical insights to optimize designs for manufacturability, performance, durability, cost effectiveness, and ease of assembly. **Experience required** - As a Lead Engineer, you will directly conceive and provide practical product design applications using complex technical principles. Emphasis of this position is on creating concepts and directing the design and development of complex Electrical projects. Experience in ePlan, WSCAD, Creo, Creo Schematic, AutoCAD design tools, and Teamcenter is a must. - Prepares concept, design, development, and feasibility studies of complex engineering projects. Prepares development plans and is responsible for meeting scheduled dates. Acts as the development team leader by interacting with plant/manufacturing locations and various engineering departments. - Candidate will work with the Product Definition / Global Counterpart to understand the product requirements and collaborates within Engineering and other cross-functional teams to provide a solution that meets the form, fit and function. In doing so, the incumbent must have a sound knowledge on the electrical regulation and standards. Candidate will directly work with compliance and regulations team to ensure the product design meets the local regulations where the product will be destined to operate. - Provide technical guidance to other engineers on product/project needs and to complete their portions of products project to ensure development schedules are met on time. Drive standardization, modular design and continuous improvement initiatives. - Coordinate and oversee the creation of designs and models, analytical work, drawing packages, design guides, and other engineering-related documents as needed. Candidate must be able to articulate the Bill of Material changes to incorporate the new designs. - Candidate is responsible for the Design Reviews of enclosure, main system, components, and sub-systems with the cross-functional teams at dedicated meetings and updating the concept or design as necessary to respond to customer specifications changes. - Candidate must have good communication skills to work with the Global Cross functional teams, packagers and other channel partners to ensure the projects are delivered on time, meets quality and achieves cost targets. - The applicant must also support Global Manufacturing facilities to address their queries on electrical design and resolve the quality issues in timely manner. - Candidate to have sound knowledge on the Generator, Control Systems, Power Systems, AC/DC Distribution, Alternators, Breakers, etc. are preferred. Proven knowledge of different Electrical codes (CE, UL, NEC), FMEA development and experience with diesel and alternate fuels for engines and gensets are added advantages. **Required Qualifications** - Requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering plus 8-10 years of relevant experience or a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering plus 6-8 years of relevant experience or a doctorate engineering degree. - Incumbent must be able to demonstrate the ability to gain a mastery of complex engineering and manufacturability concepts. - Must have a good electrical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts. Requires strong leadership ability and good communications skills. - Prior / Proven experience in containerized genset packaging industry. *Skill Descriptors* **Analytical Thinking**: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
