Design Engineer

Job description

Design and develop plastics trims for global passenger cars. - Perimeters: Bumper, Tailgate, Lighting, Body Claddings, interior trims, I/P, floor console - Interact with client engineers, understand the inputs and execute the designs independently with little supervision. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to manage deliverables, participate in design reviews and meetings and achieve program requirements. - Lead a team of 2-3 members for a perimeter/ program. - Good communication skills to discuss with onsite engineers and clients to understand the requirements. B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with 3–9 years in plastics product design for automotive cars - PD tools: CATIA V5, NX, Teamcenter, Windchill - Strong knowledge of product development cycle (NPD), plastics materials and manufacturing processes. - Good knowledge of plastics design guidelines and tooling fundamentals. - knowledge of automotive safety standards like ECE & FMVSS desirable. - Skills to perform regulatory checks on style surfaces for passenger & pedestrian safety (ECE-26). - Skills on assembly management and OEM drawing creation will be added advantage - Working knowledge with European or American clients with cross cultural sensitivity. - Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and listening.
