What You Will Do Amgen is establishing a Computational Biology team at AIN Hyderabad to scale translational and reverse translational analysis across clinical programs in Oncology, Inflammation, Rare Disease, Cardiovascular & Metabolic, and Obesity & Related Diseases. The Director, Computational Biology will be accountable for building, leading, and maturing the Hyderabad Computational Biology organization as an integrated extension of the Global Computational Biology function in Precision Medicine, with responsibility for scientific quality, delivery excellence, leadership development, culture, and cross-functional influence. This leader must bring strong executive presence, polished communication, deep knowledge of drug development and translational analytics, and the judgment to represent the team and Amgen brand with credibility in senior forums. The position will report into US-based Precision Medicine Computational Biology leadership and will partner closely with global leaders across Precision Medicine, Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Biomarker Sciences, Data Engineering, Digital/Technology, and therapeutic area teams. The Director is expected to operate as a trusted enterprise partner, not only a functional manager. This leader will create and run an integrated site model that is fully integrated with the global organization and with the following sub-functions: • Data Engineering (via a Tech Lead): Ingestion, ETL, QC, data product development, metadata stewardship, and scalable pipelines for GxP clinical biomarker, omics, and imaging data in an integrated, AI-ready, regulated F.A.I.R. data and metadata environment with near-future agentic integration. • Bioinformatics & Bioinformatics AI Engineering (via a Tech Lead): High-throughput cloud-based workflows for genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, multi-omics including spatial, modern ML/AI including foundation models and agentic patterns, and emerging assay modalities. Bioinformatics processing of data generated using a broad range of assay platforms and technologies. • Computational Biology Data Science: Predictive modeling, deep learning, translational analytics stacks, cross-study learning, generative AI enablement, and agentic infrastructure that supports the Precision Medicine data and analysis platform. • Biomarker Analysis Scientists: Program-facing translational analyses supporting assets across therapeutic areas, including assessment of target engagement, time-series pharmacodynamic modeling, mechanism-of-action inference, patient stratification, indication expansion, and evidence generation for development decisions. Key Responsibilities Site, capability, and culture build-out • Stand up, scale, and mature the AIN Hyderabad Computational Biology organization, including hiring strategy, role calibration, onboarding, performance expectations, operating rhythms, delivery standards, and talent development. • Build a cohesive, high-trust team culture grounded in scientific rigor, humility, accountability, adaptability, inclusion, and speed-to-learning. • Recruit and retain exceptional talent while maintaining a high bar for executive communication, scientific judgment, ownership, and collaboration. • Establish clear module ownership, delivery standards, and interfaces across Hyderabad and global teams; rapidly iterate as responsibilities mature. • Coach managers, technical leads, and senior individual contributors to raise the quality of leadership, problem framing, stakeholder management, and written/oral communication across the site. • Collaborate and coordinate continuously with the Global Computational Biology organization within Precision Medicine, maintaining regular touchpoints with management and key stakeholders. Scientific, translational, and drug development leadership • Provide Director-level scientific leadership for translational and reverse-translational analytics across clinical trials, including biomarker interpretation, patient stratification hypotheses, mechanism-of-action support, pharmacodynamic evidence, benefit-risk context, and evidence-generation plans. • Ensure analyses are anchored in drug development realities including clinical endpoints, trial design, patient populations, assay limitations, operational feasibility, decision timing, quality, traceability, and auditability. • Guide Biomarker Analysis Scientists in study design, analysis strategy, interpretation, and communication of results for governance, program teams, and senior decision forums. • Translate complex multi-modal results into clear development implications, distinguishing evidence, uncertainty, limitations, an
