Role Overview Join Wipro Innovation Network (WIN) Labs as a Director - Robotics Research Scientist, where you'll lead groundbreaking research in Robotics and Embodied Artificial Intelligence. This leadership position demands a visionary approach and extensive expertise, ideally suited to a PhD-qualified professional with a distinguished background in robotics or related fields. You will play a pivotal role in crafting the strategic vision, driving innovation, and delivering practical, transformative AI-powered automation solutions that impact industries globally. Responsibilities Develop and communicate a compelling research strategy and innovation roadmap for the Robotics & Embodied AI division, positioning Wipro at the forefront of emerging technologies. Steer complex, cross-disciplinary research initiatives involving autonomous systems, robot perception, control algorithms, and AI-driven robotics solutions that address real-world challenges. Collaborate with global clients and internal stakeholders to co-design applied research projects that translate cutting-edge discoveries into deployable technologies and products. Lead, inspire, and mentor a high-performing and diverse team of researchers, engineers, and scholars fostering a culture of creativity, rigorous experimentation, and continuous professional growth. Actively disseminate research findings through leading academic and industry forums, contribute to patents, and shape thought leadership that advances the state of the art. Forge strategic partnerships with academic institutions, industrial consortia, and technology pioneers to enhance collaborative research efforts and leverage shared expertise. Represent Wipro in global conferences, workshops, and client engagements, serving as a trusted expert and advisor on robotics and AI advancements. Champion ethical AI and responsible robotics development, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards throughout project lifecycles. Qualifications & Experience Doctorate in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field emphasizing robotics or embodied intelligence. Minimum of five years of post-PhD experience in industrial or applied robotics research, with demonstrable impactful contributions. Proven track record of leading research teams and managing strategic initiatives that produce tangible outcomes in robotics R&D. Substantial publication history in premier AI and robotics journals and conferences alongside contributions to patents and technology innovations. In-depth practical expertise in robot perception, motion planning, control systems, reinforcement learning, simulation technologies, and integration of physical robotic platforms. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and client engagement abilities to effectively collaborate across diverse global teams. Experience in global, multidisciplinary, and multicultural environments will be highly advantageous. Preferred Competencies and Skills Familiarity with cloud robotics platforms, edge AI solutions, and scaling autonomous system deployments in production environments. Comprehensive understanding of regulatory, ethical, and societal implications surrounding robotics and AI technologies. Record of successful commercialization or transfer of technology from research to market applications.
