These platforms combine edge AI, heterogeneous computing, embedded software, safety-critical systems, and cloud-connected architectures to enable real-world autonomy and intelligence at the edge. As Engineering Manager – Edge AI & Robotics, you will lead a team of highly skilled engineers developing next-generation Edge AI platforms for robotics and intelligent systems. This is a highly technical, hands-on leadership role that combines people leadership, systems and software engineering, technology strategy, architecture development, and direct engineering contribution. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in AI, embedded computing, robotics, software engineering, and systems engineering, with a proven track record of driving product development from requirements through deployment, building high-performing teams, and delivering scalable, reliable, and production-ready solutions. Key Responsibilities Team & Technical Leadership • Build, lead, and grow a world-class team of Edge AI, robotics, and embedded software engineers. • Mentor engineers and technical leads through coaching, career planning, and technical development. • Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning. • Manage project prioritization, resource allocation, technical risk mitigation, and delivery planning. • Define and execute the technical roadmap for Edge AI and Robotics platforms aligned with Aptiv's broader Robotics and Adjacent Markets strategy. • Drive architecture decisions spanning Edge AI, embedded computing, robotics software, autonomy systems, cloud infrastructure, and intelligent machine platforms. • Establish engineering best practices for scalable, reusable, maintainable, and production-ready software. • Evaluate emerging AI technologies, compute architectures, accelerators, software frameworks, and development tools. • Drive systems engineering, requirements management, and product development processes across the full lifecycle from concept through release. • Establish scalable engineering practices spanning systems engineering, software development, testing, configuration management, and release governance. • Lead requirements definition, decomposition, traceability, verification, and validation using tools such as Polarion ALM, DOORS, or equivalent. Hands-On Technical Leadership • Serve as a hands-on technical leader who actively contributes to architecture reviews, software design, technology evaluations, and critical engineering challenges. • Maintain deep involvement in software development, AI model deployment, system optimization, and platform architecture decisions. • Partner directly with engineers to solve challenging problems in AI inference, embedded systems, robotics software, and heterogeneous computing. • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, technical deep dives, benchmarking activities, and root-cause investigations. • Contribute to technical decisions involving AI frameworks, compute architectures, software platforms, sensor integration, and deployment strategies. • Stay current with advancements in Edge AI, robotics, autonomous systems, embedded compute, and intelligent machines. • Balance management responsibilities with meaningful technical contribution, maintaining credibility as both a leader and engineer. Edge AI Platform Development • Lead development of scalable Edge AI platforms supporting perception, computer vision, multimodal AI, sensor fusion, and intelligent decision-making. • Guide deployment and optimization of AI workloads across CPU, GPU, NPU, DSP, FPGA, and heterogeneous SoC architectures. • Drive model optimization initiatives including quantization, pruning, distillation, compression, compilation, and hardware acceleration. • Oversee deployment across NVIDIA, AMD, Qualcomm, Intel, NXP, TI, Renesas, Ambarella and similar embedded AI platforms. • Ensure solutions meet demanding requirements for latency, throughput, power efficiency, memory utilization, reliability, and scalability. • Develop reusable software frameworks and reference architectures that can scale across multiple products and platforms. Embedded Systems & Software Engineering • Lead development of high-performance software in C/C++, Python, and modern systems programming environments. • Drive software architecture decisions that maximize portability across hardware platforms and operating environments. • Guide teams working with Linux-based embedded systems, RTOS environments, containerized applications, and cross-compilation toolchains. • Collaborate closely with hardware and silicon teams to influence compute architecture, accelerator selection, sensor integration, and platform trade-offs. • Champion software engineering best practices including code quality, testing, observability
