Job description

Job Purpose We are seeking an experienced Environmental Fate & Exposure Assessment Scientist to support the registration and regulatory compliance of Plant Protection Products (PPPs) and Biocides globally. The role focuses on environmental fate assessments, exposure modelling, ecotoxicological risk assessments, and preparation of regulatory dossiers in compliance with EU and international regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities • Conduct environmental fate and exposure assessments for plant protection products and biocides across soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air compartments. • Perform environmental exposure modelling using industry-recognized tools, including FOCUS PEARL, PELMO, MACRO, PRZM, SWASH, TOXSWA, SWAN, PERSAM, ESCAPE, CAKE, EUSES, etc.... • Evaluate the environmental behavior, degradation, mobility, persistence, and distribution of active substances and metabolites. • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory dossiers for EU Plant Protection Product registrations, including dRR Part B.8 (Environmental Fate and Behaviour), dRR Part B.10 (Groundwater). • Critically assess scientific studies and regulatory data packages to determine study reliability, relevance, and regulatory acceptability. • Develop scientifically robust risk assessments and provide clear, defensible conclusions to support regulatory submissions. • Author and peer review technical reports, expert statements, registration documents, and responses to regulatory authority queries. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary regulatory, toxicology, ecotoxicology, and product stewardship teams to support global registration strategies. • Monitor evolving regulatory requirements and scientific developments related to environmental risk assessment and pesticide/biocide regulation. Required Qualifications • M.Tech/ Ph.D (minimum) in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Required Experience • Significant experience in environmental fate, exposure modelling, and regulatory risk assessment for Plant Protection Products (PPPs) and/or Biocides. • Proven experience preparing and reviewing EU regulatory dossiers for PPP registrations. • Hands-on expertise with FOCUS modelling tools and environmental exposure assessment methodologies. • Experience working with international regulatory frameworks for agrochemicals, pesticides, or biocides.
