**Role & responsibilities** - Directly manage, coach, mentor, and performance manage a team of Data Engineering Managers, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and collaboration. - Build and maintain strong relationships with key business and technology stakeholders, ensuring effective communication regarding project status, risks, and opportunities. - Collaborate with stakeholders to deeply understand their data needs and priorities, translating them into actionable data engineering initiatives. - Champion a Data Engineering culture of Learning, Belonging, and Accountability, driving employee engagement and development initiatives. - Oversee resource allocation and capacity planning for the Data Engineering team, working with project and solution managers to ensure appropriate staffing. - Manage vendor relationships and contracts as needed, ensuring optimal value and alignment with Data Engineering goals. - Identify and lead initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Data Engineering operating model, streamlining processes and automating tasks. - Drive the adoption of best practices, standards, and data quality improvements across the Data Engineering team. - Participate in the development and drive the implementation of short-term and long-term strategic initiatives for Data Engineering, ensuring alignment with business goals. - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the Data Engineering team, staying up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies, and contributing to the development of data architecture and standards. **Experience required** - 15+ years of overall experience in Data Engineering. - 5+ years of people leadership, managing mid-to-large data engineering teams, including engineering managers. - Strong experience in stakeholder management and influencing senior business leaders. - Deep understanding of data engineering principles, architecture, and best practices. - Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms. - Experience working in Agile/Product team environments. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills across global teams and time zones. - Strong analytical and technical problem-solving capabilities. **Preferred Skills** - Expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP). - Strong knowledge of Big Data technologies, Data Warehousing, and ETL/ELT frameworks. - Experience designing scalable data architectures. - Proven track record of leading and delivering large-scale data engineering projects.
