Job description

**Production Designer:** We are seeking a highly efficient Production Designer to manage, execute, and scale our document design workflows. In this role, you will be responsible for pouring complex editorial content into established InDesign templates for both short and long-form documents. You will maintain strict visual consistency, evolve existing templates to meet changing project needs, and ensure all final outputs adhere to strict document accessibility standards. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Template Execution & Content Ingestion High-Volume Ingestion: Pour text and visual assets into existing Adobe InDesign templates accurately and efficiently at scale. Template Evolution: Refine, maintain, and evolve existing master templates, paragraph/character styles, and object styles to improve workflow efficiency. Long-Form Document Management: Seamlessly handle complex multi-page layouts (textbooks, reports, workbooks), ensuring perfect copyfitting and visual Alignment. 2. Document Accessibility Compliance Accessibility Implementation: Build strong accessibility features directly into layouts, including correct reading order, semantic XML/HTML tagging, and object anchoring. Alt Text Integration: Ensure all visual assets are properly tagged with alternative text and structured correctly for screen-reader compatibility. Quality Assurance: Conduct pre-flight checks to guarantee final PDFs and digital formats meet WCAG and Section 508 accessibility compliance standards. 3. Production Quality Control Pre-flight & Delivery: Deliver technically flawless, print-ready or digital-ready files, managing assets, linked graphics, and fonts across large document structures. Brand Consistency: Act as a guardian of design systems, ensuring all scaled content strictly adheres to established typography, spacing, and grid guidelines. **Key Qualifications** Tools: Expert-level mastery of Adobe InDesign (advanced styles, data merge, book features, and interactive/accessible exporting), Photoshop, and Illustrator. Accessibility Expertise: Strong, demonstrable knowledge of document accessibility workflows (PDF tagging, WCAG standards, Section 508 compliance). Speed & Accuracy: Proven track record of formatting high volumes of short and long-form content quickly without sacrificing technical precision or design quality. **Experience:** 3+ years of experience in a production-heavy design environment, such as educational publishing, corporate reporting, or agency production. **Note:** *Please attach your portfolio link in the resume.*
