Job Title: Java Developer Department: BNP Paribas Fortis, CBPS About Business line/Function: BNP Paribas Fortis is one of the largest payment processors in Europe. Our teams work in multi-cultural and empowered squads who deliver new functionalities and enhancements on a frequent basis. The mission of the Tribe TCF is to grow as a reliable and cost-efficient service provider for customers of BNP Paribas Group worldwide, whilst implementing innovative technologies and transversal products. Position Purpose: In this role you will be part of an international, multi-functional squad with colleagues in Chennai and Belgium. The squad is responsible for the development and maintenance of a key application of BNP Paribas Group. It works in an agile mode with daily huddles and frequent production releases, whilst maintaining high quality standards. The squad is part of Tribe TCF with its main management in Belgium at BNP Paribas Fortis, a sister company of ISPL **Responsibilities** Direct Responsibilities - You will be working on Reverse engineering and rewriting the Online Modelling Job for the CMLI batch module - You will analyze the legacy code and rewrite in the new CMLI framework - The jobs rewritten will run in a Batch module - You will convert deprecated Hybernate APIs to new JPA approach - You will troubleshoot, develop, debug and test new jobs - You develop and unit test Java-based software components - You participate, peer and engineering reviews and resolution of code vulnerabilities - You participate in higher-level testing (integration, verification, validation) - You coordinate and debug the resolution of technical issues and analyze root cause of problems - You help the Chapter Lead in defining the conversion strategy and roadmap and provide robust and reliable estimation for work packages to develop (cost, schedule) and assessment of technical risksYou actively help the Chapter Lead in defining the technological and organizational orientations for the department, and play a key role in the technology watch process (identify, evaluate and recommend new efficient technologies/processes/tools) - Contributing Responsibilities **As Developer In a Squad** - You want to get involved in a project strongly oriented towards collaboration, self-management and use of AI - You will be able to work autonomously You have experience in most of the following technical areas Technical & Behavioral Competencies - Specific Qualifications: - You have a bachelor or master degree in IT and at least 8 years of experience - Fluent English is mandatory (oral and written) **Technical Skills** Skills Referential (Required knowledge, skills and abilities) - You want to get involved in a project strongly oriented towards collaboration, self-management and use of AI where possible - You will be able to work autonomously - You have the ability and interest in Reverse Engineering of old code where no functional analysis will be provided but old code has to be analysed and pertinent decisions taken on the best and efficient approach forward to rewrite in new technologies - Ability to work on an batch engine already built and rewriting jobs to be configured on the existing engine - You have experience in most of the following technical areas: - JAVA - Knowledge of Spring Framework 5.3.39 + Hibernate 5.3 + JPA. - Expert in JDK8 and later versions - Proficiency with JPA Repositories and JPQL. - Knowledge of relational databases Oracle in general and in particular with bulk insert/update/delete of records with JPA/Hibernate - Familiarity with threading in general (parallel code run, race conditions - Conversion of Hibernate APIs Criteria and DetachedCriteria to the new JPA approach CriteriaBuilder. - API code-level changes from hibernate 3 to their JPA equivalent (for example, “save” becoming “persist”, “update”/”saveOrUpdate” becoming “merge”) - The architectural shift from SessionFactory to EntityManager - Java Runnable interface – Troubleshooting, Debugging and Testing - Good command of SQL and working experience with Large DBs - Performance initiatives with Large DBs such as usage of indexing, table partitioning - Familiarity with code vulnerability and fixes to be done - Familiarity with Fortify and NexusIQ - Knowledge of JUNIT / Test Automation **Behavioral Skills** - Team player who promotes communication between internal and external stakeholders - Result oriented: adapts to the context and wants to obtain the best possible result considering available means. - Act and analyze proactively. - Pragmatic and problem solver. - Quick self-starter, pro-active attitude, self-motivated. - Ability to work in a dynamic and multi-cultural environment. - Ability to build working relationships in a complex environment. - Ability to manage stakeholders. - Asking and giving feedback Education Level: Bachelor Degree or equivalent Location: Chennai **About BNP Paribas Group** BNP Paribas is the European Union’s leading bank and key player in international banking.
