**Job Description Senior Backend Architect / Technical Lead (Java, AWS, DevOps)** **Experience -** 12+ Years **Location** Mumbai - On-site **Role Summary** We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Architect / Technical Lead with 12+ years of experience in designing, developing, and delivering large-scale enterprise applications. The ideal candidate should possess deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, AWS Cloud, Kafka, and DevOps practices. The candidate should be capable of driving architecture decisions, leading engineering teams, and ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance of business-critical systems. Basic understanding of AI/Generative AI technologies and their enterprise applications is highly desirable. **Key Responsibilities** **Architecture & Solution Design** - Define and drive backend architecture for enterprise-scale applications. - Design scalable, resilient, secure, and high-performance systems. - Lead architecture reviews and establish engineering best practices. - Evaluate and recommend technology solutions aligned with business objectives. - Ensure compliance with security, governance, and operational standards. **Backend Development** - Design and develop applications using Java and Spring Boot. - Build and maintain Microservices-based architectures. - Design RESTful APIs and event-driven systems. - Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability. - Ensure high code quality through reviews and engineering standards. **Cloud & AWS** - Design and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS. - Work with AWS services such as: EC2 ECS/EKS Lambda S3 RDS DynamoDB API Gateway CloudWatch IAM SNS/SQS Secrets Manager - Drive cloud migration and modernization initiatives. **Event Streaming & Messaging** - Design and implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka. - Build scalable messaging and data streaming solutions. - Ensure reliability, fault tolerance, and monitoring of Kafka ecosystems. **DevOps & Automation** - Establish CI/CD pipelines and release automation processes. - Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices. - Drive containerization and orchestration strategies. - Improve deployment efficiency, monitoring, and operational excellence. - Support production stability and incident management processes. **Leadership & Stakeholder Management** - Lead and mentor engineering teams. - Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Security, Infrastructure, and Business teams. - Provide technical guidance and architectural direction. - Participate in technical hiring and team development initiatives. **AI & Innovation (Good to Have)** - Basic understanding of: Generative AI Large Language Models (LLMs) AI APIs and Integrations AI-powered automation Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) - Identify opportunities where AI can improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and engineering productivity. - Collaborate with AI teams on integrating AI capabilities into enterprise platforms. **Required Skills** **Core Technologies** - Java (8/11/17+) - Spring Boot - Spring Cloud - Microservices Architecture - REST APIs - Design Patterns - Multithreading & Concurrency **Messaging & Integration** - Apache Kafka - Event-Driven Architecture - Message Queues - API Integration **Cloud Technologies** - AWS Services - Cloud-Native Application Development - Security and IAM Concepts - High Availability & Disaster Recovery **DevOps & Infrastructure** - Docker - Kubernetes - Jenkins / GitHub Actions / GitLab CI - Terraform / CloudFormation - Monitoring & Logging Tools - CI/CD Pipeline Design **Databases** - PostgreSQL - MySQL - Oracle - MongoDB - Redis **Leadership Skills** - Solution Architecture - Technical Mentoring - Stakeholder Management - Technical Decision Making - Project Delivery Leadership **Preferred Qualifications** - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. - Experience in Banking, FinTech, Payments, or Enterprise Digital Transformation projects. - Exposure to large-scale distributed systems and high-volume transaction processing. **Ideal Candidate** A highly skilled technology leader with 12+ years of experience in Java backend development, strong expertise in Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka, Microservices, and DevOps, proven experience in architecting and delivering enterprise-scale solutions, and an interest in leveraging AI technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.
