**Lead / Sr. Design Engineer - PLC Programming** **Job Location: Chennai** Key Responsibilities - Collect and analyze project inputs and specifications from cross‑functional teams, and define the machine automation architecture based on functional, process, and safety requirements. - Design and develop PLC programs and HMI interfaces using Rockwell RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk View in alignment with project and industry standards. - Develop automation projects using Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 Application Code Manager (ACM) for standardized, modular, and scalable engineering. - Select appropriate PLC controllers, VFDs, servo drives, and I/O modules based on system capacity, performance needs, and architecture design. - Configure and parameterize VFDs and servo drives, ensuring correct motion profiles, safety functions, and communication setup. - Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and cable routing designs using SEE Electrical software as per industrial and customer standards. - Generate part lists, cable lists, and BOM documentation from SEE Electrical outputs for procurement and manufacturing. - Select electrical components such as breakers, sensors, drives, motors, and safety devices ensuring compliance with required Performance Level (PL) and relevant safety standard ISO 13849. **Work Experience:** - Strong expertise in Rockwell Automation systems, including CompactLogix and Compact GuardLogix 5380 PLCs, PowerFlex drives, and Kinetix 5700 servo drives. - Must have good knowledge in Electrical CAD/ EPLAN/SEE -electrical - Hands‑on experience in parameterization and troubleshooting of Nidec drives (Unidrive SP, M‑Drives, Digitex M750) and Rockwell Kinetix drives. - PLC programming skills across multiple IEC 61131‑3 languages: Ladder Logic (LD), Sequential Function Chart (SFC), Function Block Diagram (FBD). - Ability to Design and develop new PLC automation concepts based on machine functionality and process requirements - Excellent problem‑solving and analytical capabilities, with strong ability to understand, migrate, and upgrade legacy machines. - Good knowledge of robotic integration for automation applications. - Strong understanding of electrical and pneumatic standards and symbols used in industrial machinery. - Proficient with Microsoft Office tools for documentation, reporting, and analysis - Working experience with Siemens automation technologies, including STEP 7 (S7‑1200,S7-1500), WinCC , TIA Portal, Sinamics, and Simotion will be an advantage. - Excellent oral & written English communication. - Proficiency in French will be added advantage.
