Lead System Engineer - MS SQL

Job description

We are seeking an experienced **Lead System Engineer** to spearhead heterogeneous database migration initiatives from MS SQL Server to Aurora PostgreSQL. In this role, you will drive end-to-end migration efforts leveraging AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT), while authoring migration runbooks that guide broader engineering teams through complex enterprise transitions. **Responsibilities** - Lead the setup, configuration, and validation of AWS DMS and SCT for heterogeneous database migrations - Design and implement Aurora PostgreSQL environments using Infrastructure-as-Code principles - Author comprehensive migration runbooks for execution by the broader engineering team - Deliver end-to-end heterogeneous database migration projects for enterprise customers - Perform production-grade database operations including backup/restore, parameter tuning, and failover testing - Drive schema conversion efforts from MS SQL Server to PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth migration execution and knowledge transfer - Validate data integrity and performance benchmarks throughout the migration lifecycle - Provide technical leadership and mentorship on AWS database migration best practices **Requirements** - 10+ years of hands-on system engineering experience - At least 1 year of relevant leadership experience - Expertise in AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), Schema Conversion Tool (SCT), and MGN - Deep proficiency in MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL (or Aurora PostgreSQL) - Background in production-grade database operations, including backup/restore, parameter tuning, and failover testing - Skills in Infrastructure-as-Code for database resources using Terraform and CloudFormation - Showcase of authored or contributed migration runbooks for enterprise customers - Proven capability to deliver heterogeneous database migration projects end-to-end - Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher
