Mainframe Software Engineer

Job description

**Key Responsibilities** - Analyze business requirements and prepare technical design solutions. - Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM. - Perform coding, unit testing, debugging, and implementation activities. - Provide Level 2/Level 3 production support and resolve critical incidents. - Optimize batch jobs and application performance. - Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. - Coordinate with business analysts, QA teams, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. - Support release management and deployment activities. - Prepare technical documentation and mentor junior team members. Required Skills - 5-8 years of experience in Mainframe Application Development. - Strong expertise in **COBOL,** **JCL,** **CICS,** **DB2,** **and** **VSAM**. - Experience in development, enhancement, and support projects. - Good knowledge of Mainframe utilities and batch processing. - Strong SQL and debugging skills. - Experience with Endevor, Changeman, or similar source control tools. - Understanding of SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies. - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Skills - Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or Retail domain experience. - Exposure to Mainframe modernization projects. - Experience in performance tuning and application optimization.
