Job Description: Assistant Manager - MaintenanceLocation: Indore, MPDepartment: MaintenanceReports To: Maintenance Manager/Plant HeadEmployment Type: Full-Time, Salaried Position SummaryTo lead and manage the maintenance function of the plant by ensuring reliable operation ofelectrical, mechanical, utility, and material handling equipment. The role is responsible forpreventive and breakdown maintenance, safety, statutory compliance, team leadership, andcontinuous improvement to support smooth production in a foam and mattress manufacturingenvironment.Key Responsibilities - Plan, coordinate, and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for all plant equipment. - Lead electrical and mechanical maintenance operations across production lines, utilities, and support systems. - Ensure smooth operation and maintenance of utilities such as chillers, DG sets, compressors, tap edge Machine, Roll pack Machine, Quilting Machine, CCM & VCM, ETP, STP and other facility systems. - Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, automation panels, and control systems. - Oversee mechanical assembly, alignment, modifications, repairs, and machine overhauling activities. - Manage maintenance of material handling equipment such as trolleys, forklifts, and stackers. - Coordinate and monitor AMC service providers and ensure timely closure of service activities. - Develop alternate vendors for consumables and maintenance materials to improve cost, quality, and delivery performance. - Prepare and monitor spare parts planning for critical machines and utilities. - Lead a team of 15-20 maintenance personnel and ensure effective deployment, discipline, and performance. - Execute shutdown and breakdown maintenance activities with minimum downtime. Maintain low MTTR and high MTBF through structured maintenance practices.Optimize utilization of manpower, tools, and available resources.Support greenfield and brownfield projects, installations, and commissioning activities.Drive 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives in the maintenance area.Ensure compliance with statutory, legal, ISO/QMS, and OHSAS requirements.Maintain safe, accident-free working practices and support EHS objectives.Close audit observations, statutory findings, and third-party non-conformities within defined timelines.Coordinate with production, quality, stores, purchase, and external agencies for smooth plant operations.Key DeliverablesHigh equipment availability and reduced downtime.Effective preventive maintenance compliance.Timely closure of breakdowns, AMCs, and audit findings.Improved utility reliability and maintenance cost control.Strong team performance and safety compliance.Successful execution of improvement and expansion projects.Required SkillsStrong leadership and communication skills in English, written and verbal.Good team player with the ability to coordinate across departments.Flexible, adaptable, and capable of handling change management.Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.Hands-on experience with electricals, PLC, VFD, and automation.Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, alignment, and modifications.Knowledge of utility maintenance, facility management, and equipment reliability.Ability to manage compliance, audits, and documentation.Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, safety, and maintenance best practices.Preferred ExperienceExperience in foam, mattress, polyurethane, or similar process/manufacturing plants.Experience in managing vendor/service partner performance.Exposure to TPM, maintenance KPIs, and reliability improvement initiatives.Working Conditions Plant-based role requiring hands-on support on shop floor and utility areas.May involve shift coordination, shutdown work, and emergency maintenance support.Requires strong response capability during breakdowns and production-critical situations.Required QualificationsDiploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical, or allied engineering discipline.Relevant 7 to 10 years' experience in plant maintenance, preferably in foam, mattress, or related manufacturing industries.Strong practical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.Hands-on exposure to industrial utilities and automation systems.
