Large Systems Power Division has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager within the Cylinder Pack team in Core Components. As the Engineering Manager for the Cylinder Pack (Piston/Ring/Liner) team, your primary role is as the design control owner for these critical components across Caterpillar’s C27 through C280 product lines for diesel, natural gas, and alternative fuel engines. You will inspire, lead, and develop a growing team of 4 to 6 engineers as they develop and validate components and technologies aligned to New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Source Introduction (NSI) and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) programs. Additionally, the role will provide leadership to drive collaboration across Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Supply Chain process partners. This role will collaborate closely with internal and external partners across the world. **Responsibilities:** - Design control owner for LPSD pistons, piston rings, cylinder liners, piston pins, and oil jets - Leadership and development of design engineering team - Delivering NPI, NTI, CPI and NSI programs to time, cost, and quality targets - Updating and maintaining component and technology strategies for design control - Active engagement with the Supplier Development and Purchasing teams to develop and manage sourcing strategies and supplier capability to meet quality, capacity, and cost targets - Ability to manage multiple projects or initiatives **Degree Requirement:** - Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Materials Science curriculum (Mechanical Engineering or a degree in Material Science is preferred). **Skill Descriptors** Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
