Company: Jiostar India Private Limited Designation: Manager - Legal (Dispute Resolution) Experience: 5-7years Educational Qualification: Degree in Law Location: Mumbai Reporting to: Vice President- Legal Overview Jiostar is looking for a bright, highly motivated individual to serve as Manager-Legal  (Dispute Resolution) for its India business. This individual will work with the Jiostar Corporate Legal team in India. The candidate must be well-organized, self-driven, a team player, with experience and background in litigation management, intellectual property matters, regulatory advisory, employment law support and strategic legal risk management while partnering closely with business stakeholders. Experience in media-entertainment industry is preferred. The candidate should possess strong drafting, analytical and negotiation skills, demonstrate sound commercial judgment and be capable of independently managing sensitive legal matters involving significant business impact. The role requires regular interaction with senior management, external counsel, regulators, law enforcement agencies, production partners, broadcasters, digital platforms and other stakeholders. Job description Candidate will be responsible in handling pre-litigation advisory, and litigation matters by and against the company involving both civil and criminal laws. The Candidate will be responsible for a broad range of legal matters related to copyright, trademark, IPR protection, commercial and contractual disputes, and other issues involving civil & criminal, employment laws. Candidate should also have good knowledge about conducting preliminary knock-out searches, content due-diligence, risk analysis of scripts, screenplays, movies, musical content and web-series, and anti-piracy actions. Key Responsibilities LEGAL Drafting and reviewing of pleadings, notices, replies, and other documents in relation to ongoing legal disputes and litigations pertaining to copyright disputes, trademark disputes, infringement of personality and privacy rights, breach of contractual obligations and other commercial and civil disputes;  Management of company litigations through formulation and execution of effective litigation strategy, including briefing and appointment of attorneys and Senior Counsels. Advising and providing legal opinions to various business units on complex legal issues and recent legal developments to ensure risk mitigation. Working knowledge of operations and management of legal aspects of copyright and media laws.    Managing and advising on contentious litigation and regulatory affairs, and liaising with statutory authorities.  Conducting pre-release due diligence and risk analysis of scripts, screenplays, movies, musical content and web-series to ensure smooth release and for avoidance of legal disputes. Requirements • 5-7 years or more Post Qualification experience with majority experience preferably in a media-entertainment company or an IP Litigation law firm. • Candidate should have good knowledge of copyrights laws, civil-commercial laws, criminal laws and familiarity with court proceedings and should be capable of handling matters. • Good contract/corporate knowledge. • Strong command of the English language. • Ability to manage time judiciously and deal effectively with the competing interests of several different individuals/departments. • Proven track record of ability to manage a team. • Business oriented commercial mindset with a flexible, practical problem-solving approach. • Should excel in a fast-paced commercial environment and be able to function largely autonomously with minimal supervision taking into account departmental and business imperatives. • Mature, level-headed and calm disposition. • Confident and sociable. • High competency in general programs like Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and email applications for business.
