Designing and manufacturing state-of-the-art energy management solutions, the organization equips commercial vehicles, light electric vehicles, buses, trucks, and off-highway applications worldwide. The production facility in Chakan, Pune, plays a crucial role in scaling electrification solutions across India and international markets. **Role Summary** We are seeking an experienced and strategic **Manager – Purchase & SCM** to lead end-to-end procurement, material planning, import operations, warehouse digitization, and vendor management. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in high-volume production environments, with proven expertise in global sourcing (importing critical BOM components/cells), custom clearance operations (CHA, IGCRD, Advance Licensing), localization projects, CAPEX procurement, and capacity ramp-ups. **Key Responsibilities** **1. Purchase & Strategic Procurement** - Formulate and implement purchasing strategies and processes aligned with business targets for price, quality, delivery, and cash flow. - Manage end-to-end import procurement, including global vendor sourcing, terms negotiation, order placement, and vendor onboarding/offboarding. - Lead international supplier communications for pricing, lead times, documentation, and delivery schedules. - Coordinate with Custom House Agents (CHA) and freight forwarders for seamless customs clearance and logistics optimization. - Process RFQs for plant indents and identify cost-saving/value-engineering opportunities. - Maintain complete MIS reports, audit trails, and compliance documentation for internal and regulatory reviews. **2. Supply Chain & Strategic Sourcing** - Oversee site-wide SCM and cost-estimation activities, driving operational integration via the plant’s ERP system. - Drive active **localization initiatives** for imported BOM parts to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and lead times. - Align supply chain capability with customer demand, ensuring high service levels and on-time delivery (OTD). **3. Material Planning & Management** - Lead the Material Planning team in supervising domestic and import Raw Material (RM) procurement. - Evaluate and execute monthly MRP-generated schedules, ensuring timely release to suppliers and punctual material pickups/deliveries. - Monitor and optimize inventory levels, safety stocks, and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) frameworks according to company guidelines. **4. Commercial Operations & Import Compliance** - Oversee Third-Party Logistics (3PL) partners and manage import clearance workflows. - Maximize duty benefits and government incentive schemes (e.g., IGCRD, Advance Licensing, EPCG). - Draft and negotiate robust commercial contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) with strategic suppliers. **5. CAPEX & Cost Optimization** - Negotiate supplier tooling costs for BOM parts and capital equipment (CAPEX) investments. - Drive multi-stream cost reduction programs through alternate sourcing, localization, freight consolidation, and process efficiency. **6. Warehouse Management & Digitization** - Direct plant warehouse operations, material handling, receiving, and dispatch activities. - Spearhead warehouse automation, barcode/RFID integration, and systems digitization to improve inventory accuracy and speed. - Oversee large-scale or multi-location warehouse operations and conduct periodic physical inventory audits. **7. Process Improvement & ERP** - Partner with internal IT and external ERP partners to continually refine and implement supply chain software modules. - Align departmental workflows with broader corporate supply chain strategies and quality compliance standards. **8. Team Leadership & People Management** - Mentor, coach, and manage a team of purchase, planning, and logistics professionals. - Drive a continuous improvement mindset (Kaizen, Lean SCM) within the team to add measurable value and eliminate operational waste. **Candidate Profile & Key Requirements** **Education & Background** - **Education:** Bachelor’s Degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in **Mechanical** or **Electrical Engineering**. - **Experience:** **14 – 17 years** of relevant experience in Purchase, Procurement, and Supply Chain Management within Automobile, EV Battery, or Auto Component industries. - **Leadership:** Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing direct teams. **Technical Skills & Core Competencies** - Deep understanding of **EV Battery / Automobile Bill of Materials (BOM)**, cell sourcing, BMS components, and mechanical assemblies. - Strong expertise in **import dynamics, customs acts, CHA management**, and duty-exemption schemes (IGCRD, Advance License). - Proficiency in **MRP / ERP systems** (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent enterprise systems). - Track record of executing **localization projects** and tooling cost negotiations. - Exposure to **modern warehouse digitization tools** and 3PL operations. **Soft Skills** - Advanced negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder diplomacy. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and inventory forecasting abilities. - Leadership skills to build, motivate, and guide cross-functional teams.
