Job description

**About the Role** We are seeking an experienced **Mechanical Design Engineer** with strong expertise in **tooling fixture design, welding fixtures, fabrication design, and heavy engineering applications** . The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing innovative fixture concepts, creating robust designs, and supporting manufacturing teams through implementation and validation. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex engineering projects involving **fixture design, weld modeling, fabrication assemblies, GD&T application, and manufacturing process optimization** using **Creo and Siemens NX** . **Key Responsibilities** - Design and develop **tooling fixtures, welding fixtures, fabrication fixtures, and assembly fixtures** for heavy engineering applications. - Create and validate innovative **fixture design concepts** ensuring manufacturability, safety, quality, and cost effectiveness. - Perform **weld modeling** , fixture validation, and tolerance analysis based on engineering requirements. - Apply **GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)** principles to achieve robust and production-ready designs. - Develop detailed **3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and design documentation** using Creo and Siemens NX. - Collaborate closely with manufacturing, production, quality, and fabrication teams to support assembly and welding processes. - Participate in design reviews and implement engineering improvements to enhance productivity and quality. - Ensure compliance with manufacturing standards, tolerance requirements, and customer specifications. - Support shop-floor implementation, troubleshooting, and fixture optimization activities. **Required Technical Skills & Expertise:** - Strong experience in **Mechanical Design Engineering** within manufacturing or heavy engineering environments. - Hands-on expertise in: - Tooling Fixture Design - Welding Fixture Design - Fabrication Fixture Design - Weld Modeling - Assembly Fixture Design - Strong understanding of: - GD&T - Manufacturing Processes - Fabrication & Welding Technologies - Tolerance Stack-Up Analysis - Design Validation - Proficiency in: - **Creo** - **Siemens NX** - Experience creating detailed 3D models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs. - Ability to independently develop, validate, and implement fixture concepts. **Preferred Skills** - Experience in **DFM (Design for Manufacturing)** and **DFA (Design for Assembly)** . - Exposure to heavy fabrication, welding distortion management, and fixture correction techniques. - Knowledge of simulation, validation, or structural analysis tools. - Experience supporting shop-floor implementation and manufacturing issue resolution. - Familiarity with engineering change management and continuous improvement initiatives. **Domain Experience** Candidates with experience in the following industries will be preferred: - Heavy Engineering - Industrial Equipment Manufacturing - Fabrication & Welding - Process Equipment - Automotive Tooling & Fixtures - Capital Equipment Manufacturing - Heavy Machinery **Location:** Chennai, India **Experience:** 5 – 12 Years **Education:** Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
