Learn more about our benefits.      As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and you'll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.    Applied Materials is the leader in materials engineering solutions. Position Overview (E3 Level) This role requires strong foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in mechanical engineering. The candidate will solve complex problems using established methods while bringing a fresh perspective and improving existing solutions. You will work independently with minimal guidance, contribute to project execution, and act as a resource for less experienced engineers. Key Responsibilities Technical & Engineering • Design, develop, and modify mechanical components, assemblies, layouts, and specifications • Perform engineering analysis (thermal, flow, structural, vibration) of moderate complexity • Apply Design for Excellence (DFx), ergonomics, and safety principles • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation • Support development of tooling, fixtures, and assembly processes Problem Solving & Innovation • Identify and troubleshoot a variety of complex mechanical, manufacturing, and field issues • Apply structured problem-solving techniques and existing best practices • Contribute to improving designs and processes through analytical thinking Project Execution • Lead or execute projects of moderate scope with limited supervision • Support end-to-end product development activities (design → prototyping → validation) • Work with suppliers for component development and qualification • Contribute to generation of product specifications Collaboration & Communication • Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, manufacturing, quality, suppliers) • Communicate technical information effectively • Build alignment and consensus on engineering solutions • Support knowledge sharing within the team Competencies (E3 Expectations) • CAD Design – Extensive Experience • Sheet Metal Design, Packaging – Working Experience • GD&T – Working Experience • Manufacturing Methods – Working Experience • Prototyping & Product Development Lifecycle – Working Experience • Testing & Validation – Working Experience • Material Selection – Working Experience • Design for Excellence (DFx), Ergonomics & Safety – Working Experience • Technical Documentation – Working Experience • Project Management – Working Experience • Problem Solving – Extensive Experience • Accuracy & Attention to Detail – Working Experience Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering</l
