Neuro Anaesthesia - Associate Consultant

The Associate Consultant Neuro Anaesthesia is responsible for providing safe, evidence-based anaesthesia care for patients undergoing neurosurgical and neuro-interventional procedures. The role involves perioperative assessment, administration of anaesthesia, intraoperative monitoring, postoperative critical care, and collaboration with neurosurgeons, neuro physicians, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities - Conduct comprehensive pre-anaesthetic evaluation and risk assessment for neurosurgical patients. - Administer anaesthesia for elective and emergency neurosurgical procedures, including cranial, spinal, and neurovascular surgeries. - Manage anaesthesia for neuro-interventional radiology procedures. - Perform advanced airway management and vascular access as required. - Maintain optimal cerebral perfusion, intracranial pressure, and haemodynamic stability during surgery. - Interpret and manage invasive monitoring including arterial lines and central venous catheters. - Provide postoperative pain management and immediate postoperative care. - Participate in neuro ICU management and perioperative critical care. - Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide advanced life support when required. - Ensure accurate clinical documentation and timely completion of medical records. Academic & Research Responsibilities - Participate in departmental academic activities, CMEs, journal clubs, and case presentations. - Contribute to clinical research, publications, and quality improvement initiatives. - Guide and supervise residents, fellows, and junior medical staff.
