**Job Description Mechanical Engineer -NPI-HYD PLANT** **Job Title** Mechanical Engineer New Product Introduction (NPI) **Industry** Aerospace & Defense Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) **Department** NPI & Engineering **Reports To** Engineering Manager / Program Manager **Job Summary** We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) within Aerospace & Defense EMS environments. The role involves end-to-end mechanical product development, industrialization, and manufacturing support for high-reliability electronic and electro-mechanical systems. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional engineering, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer teams to ensure successful development and transition of products from concept through qualification and production. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in mechanical design, ruggedization, manufacturability, and aerospace/defense quality standards. **Key Responsibilities** - Design and develop mechanical solutions for aerospace and defense electronic systems, enclosures, assemblies, and electro-mechanical products. - Knowledge of developing the Special purpose machine - Review of 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly documentation, and BOMs - Support complete NPD lifecycle activities including concept development, prototyping, validation, qualification, and production release and supplier both external and internal - Lead NPI activities including pilot production, process validation, and manufacturing readiness reviews. - Perform tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T implementation, DFM/DFA reviews, and design optimization for manufacturability and reliability. - Coordinate with PCB, electrical, and systems engineering teams for mechanical integration of electronic assemblies. - Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams for tooling development, material selection, machining, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly process improvements. - Support qualification and compliance activities as per aerospace and defense standards. - Generate and maintain engineering documentation including ECN/ECO, technical specifications, test reports, qualification reports, and manufacturing work instructions. - Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions for design and manufacturing issues. - Participate in customer reviews, design reviews, FMEA, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives. **Required Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline. - 4–10 years of experience in Aerospace, Defense, EMS, or high-reliability product development environments. - Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools. - Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, and mechanical design principles. - Experience with sheet metal, CNC machining, castings, thermal solutions, and electro-mechanical assemblies. - Knowledge of aerospace and defense standards, qualification processes, and quality systems. - Familiarity with AS9100, IPC standards, APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, and configuration management processes. - Exposure to SAP/ any ERP systems and engineering change management. - Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration skills. **Preferred Skills** - Experience in rugged enclosure and electronic systems integration. - Exposure to AS-standards, NADCAP & MIL-STD requirements and aerospace qualification processes. - Experience working with global customers and contract manufacturing environments. **Key Competencies** - Aerospace & Defense Product Development - NPD/NPI Execution - Mechanical Integration with CHA & PCBA’s - Manufacturing Readiness & Industrialization - Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement - Cross-functional Coordination - Technical Documentation & Compliance interested candidates may reach out to **rajashekhara.n@cyientdlm.com**
