The Ocean Surcharges Filing Executive is responsible for accurately processing, validating, and filing ocean surcharge-related data filings. The role ensures correct application of charges, timely system updates, and coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders to support smooth billing and operational accuracy. Job description: • Manage the creation, maintenance, and implementation of ocean freight surcharges in pricing and tariff management systems. • Ensure timely and accurate update of local, regional, and global surcharges in accordance with business requirements and market changes. • Validate surcharge requests against applicable governance, pricing guidelines, and commercial policies. • Perform quality checks and audits to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal standards. • Coordinate with Trade Management, Product, Sales, Pricing, Operations, and other stakeholders for surcharge implementation and issue resolution. • Monitor surcharge effective dates, expiry dates, and amendments to ensure uninterrupted pricing accuracy. • Investigate and resolve surcharge-related discrepancies, customer queries, and system exceptions within agreed service levels. • Generate and analyse operational reports, dashboards, and performance metrics related to surcharge activities. • Participate in contract filing, tariff publishing, and rate maintenance activities where applicable. • Identify process improvement opportunities and support automation initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort. • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and process compliance evidence. • Collaborate with global teams across regions to ensure consistency in surcharge implementation and adherence to governance standards. • Contribute to continuous improvement projects through root cause analysis, Lean methodologies, and best practice sharing. • Strong understanding of Ocean Freight Pricing, Tariffs, and Surcharge Management. • Knowledge of shipping and logistics industry processes. • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills. • Experience with pricing, contract, or tariff management systems. • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset. • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Continuous improvement and problem-solving mindset. • Understanding of price calculations, surcharge applications, additional costs & booking requirements • Should be able to explain clearly to all stakeholders on exceptions & also if a different approach needs to be taken for route, pricings, etc. • Proficient in accessing AFLS modules since most of the pricing related activities happens in AFLS application. • Understand the SPOT business/logics and contract products to handle the business more efficiently. • Knowledge of PMA & ML.com is an advantage. • Knowledge in Upstream and Downstream processes is preferable to collaborate things in a better way • Should be prolific in error resolution and ability to suggest better solutions. • Exposure of data analytics tools like SAPBI, Dataiku, Databricks, etc. is preferable. • Should have proven experience in successfully executing Global transitions, ensuring effective Governance and seamless execution of the project. • Adherence to timelines proposed or agreed with stakeholders. • Partner with neighbouring processes (Upstream & Downstream)/stakeholders and obtain buy-in for complex and strategic initiatives. • Willing to learn and adapt to new challenges. • Should be prolific in all Microsoft packages like Excel, PowerPoint, MS word, etc. • Ensure rate availability for all corridors which is in demand • Ensure accurate rates at all times. • Continuously work on standardising to add values to business. • Identify non-compliance and work closely with the stakeholders to fix it to avoid legal & business impact.
