**Your Role** As an OpenShift & VMware Migration Planning Specialist at Capgemini, you will be responsible for defining and strategizing enterprise-scale virtualization and container platform migrations. You will lead technical assessments, architecture planning, and pre-migration readiness activities for transitioning workloads from VMware environments to Red Hat OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms—without direct implementation ownership. - Lead end-to-end migration planning strategies for transitioning workloads from VMware vSphere to OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms. - Perform environment discovery, dependency analysis, and compatibility assessments to ensure migration readiness. - Develop high-level and low-level architecture designs (HLD/LLD) along with migration patterns, runbooks, and rollback strategies. - Define pre-migration activities, including infrastructure mapping, capacity planning, networking, and storage alignment. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams (infra, cloud, DevOps, security) to align migration strategy with enterprise standards and compliance requirements. - Identify risks, mitigation strategies, downtime considerations, and validation mechanisms to ensure minimal disruption during migration. - Provide technical leadership in virtualization modernization and containerization initiatives, ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. **Your Profile** - Strong expertise in VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) and deep understanding of enterprise virtualization concepts. - Extensive knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes architecture, and containerization fundamentals. - Proven experience in migration planning, design patterns, and strategy definition for VMware to OpenShift/Kubernetes environments. - In-depth understanding of pre-migration assessment, dependency mapping, and infrastructure readiness planning. - Solid knowledge of networking, storage, security, and hybrid cloud environments within virtualization and container ecosystems. - Experience with migration tools/frameworks (e.g., Migration Toolkit for Virtualization) and migration methodologies (cold/warm/live migration). - Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills for delivering architecture documents and migration plans.
