**About Position:** As a Lead Database Administrator, you will play a key role in leading the direction of our database capabilities, with primary ownership of the design, performance, and reliability of our Oracle environment. You will collaborate closely with software engineering, DevOps, and security teams to ensure stability, performance, and secure operation of our data platform. Experience with or exposure to Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migrations is an asset for this role. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a modernized, compliance-ready data platform. - **Role: Oracle Database Administrator** - **Location: Hyderabad** - **Experience: 5 to 7 Years** - **Job Type: Full-Time Employment** **What You'll Do:** - Own the design, administration, and performance tuning of Oracle database environments supporting production SaaS workloads. - Contribute to long-term data platform strategy, including evaluating a future path to PostgreSQL (Amazon RDS/Aurora) as business priorities evolve. - Establish and maintain backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability strategies across the Oracle environment. - Monitor and optimize database performance, capacity planning, and query tuning across the estate. - Support FedRAMP compliance activities, including implementation and maintenance of database-level security controls (access control, encryption, auditing/logging), and vulnerability remediation. - Partner with the security and compliance team to respond to findings from vulnerability scans, control assessments, and 3PAO (Third-Party Assessment Organization) reviews, and help track remediation through POA&Ms. - Mentor and provide guidance to other DBAs and engineers on Oracle database best practices and standards. - Respond to incidents as needed. **Expertise you will bring:** - Five years+ experience as a DBA, with deep hands-on Oracle administration experience (e.g., RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, performance tuning). - Deep proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL, with strong expertise in Oracle-specific features, tuning, and optimization. - Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform) for provisioning and managing database infrastructure. - Solid understanding of database security concepts, including encryption at rest and in transit, IAM, and role-based access control. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex production database issues. - Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, or NIST SP 800-53, including exposure to control implementation, audit evidence, or assessment support. - Hands-on experience migrating Oracle databases to PostgreSQL, including tools such as AWS DMS, AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT), ora2pg, or similar. - Experience with AWS database services, including RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DMS. - Direct experience working within a FedRAMP-authorized environment or supporting an Authority to Operate (ATO) or continuous monitoring process. - Experience with change data capture (CDC) tools and low- or zero-downtime database migration strategies. - Working knowledge of PostgreSQL syntax, extensions, and idioms. - Experience with vulnerability scanning and remediation tooling as applied to database platforms (e.g., Tenable, Qualys, or similar). - Oracle certification (OCP/OCM) and/or PostgreSQL certification. - Experience driving architectural changes and modernization efforts, including the adoption of new technologies and best practices. - Familiarity with the AWS Well-Architected Framework and best practices. - The ability to effectively convey complex technical and compliance concepts to non-technical stakeholders. **Benefits:** - Competitive salary and benefits package - Culture focused on talent development with quarterly growth opportunities and company-sponsored higher education and certifications - Opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies - Employee engagement initiatives such as project parties, flexible work hours, and Long Service awards - Annual health check-ups - Insurance coverage: group term life, personal accident, and Mediclaim hospitalization for self, spouse, two children, and parents **Values-Driven, People-Centric & Inclusive Work Environment:** Persistent is dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
