**Role & responsibilities** - Partner with Patent Counsel, global Patent Attorneys, and key stakeholders to deliver high- quality patent intelligence and decision-ready analyses that support strategic business and IP decisions - Act as a strategic liaison between the Global Patent Team and business stakeholders on IP- related matters, helping translate complex patent insights into practical guidance - Support global Patent Attorneys on global freedom-to-operate (FTO) assessments, and IP decision-making across priority jurisdictions - Conduct landscape and white space analyses to identify strategic opportunities across pharmaceutical compositions, formulations, polymorphs, synthetic routes, drug delivery devices, medical devices and biologics - Conduct prior art searches for patentability and validity assessments - Support India pharmaceutical business teams with patent intelligence for launch readiness, lifecycle management, licensing and tendering matters - Monitor portfolio developments and competitor activity in India and relevant global markets, including prosecution, opposition and litigation trends - Prepare regular India patent updates, alerts, and insight reports for global Patent Attorneys and business stakeholders, with clear implications and recommended areas for follow-up - Support patent due diligence, portfolio analysis and broader strategic IP assessments - Provide regulatory intelligence on patent-related regulatory frameworks (patent linkage, data exclusivity, Paragraph IV, SPC, etc.) to the Indian business - Support patent prosecution and post grant activities for Indian patents, including coordination with internal stakeholders and external counsel as needed - Conduct competitive intelligence and benchmarking studies to support business strategy - Execute other critical IP projects as assigned 2 Technical Competencies / Skills & Experience - 6 years of relevant IP experience, with strong depth in patent analytics - Experience working in-house at pharmaceutical or medical technology companies is preferred - Law firm or patent litigation experience would be a strong advantage - Experience across pharmaceuticals and medical technology or drug-device combinations will be advantageous - Ability to develop complex search strategies and taxonomies for chemical structure searching across patent and scientific literature databases - Experience conducting searches for patentability assessments, FTO analyses, and patent validity/invalidity searches - Experience in strategic IP analytics, including technology landscapes, white space analyses, and competitive intelligence - Experience in patent drafting, claim analysis, and amendment/response preparation in the Pharmaceutical and/or Life Sciences domain - Knowledge of patent prosecution practices for India; familiarity with patent prosecution in US, EP, and CN jurisdictions for pharmaceuticals (preferred) - Strong understanding of Indian patent law and key differences across major patent jurisdictions - Regulatory knowledge related to patents for small and large molecules across major jurisdictions (preferred) - Proficient in patent and chemistry databases including PatSnap, SciFinder, CAS, and public patent databases; familiarity with additional chemical structure searching tools - Proficiency in scientific literature databases such as ScienceDirect, PubMed, and related research platforms - Strong technical background with the ability to quickly grasp cutting-edge technologies across pharmaceutical chemistry, organic synthesis, drug delivery, formulations, drug device combinations, medical devices and related domains
