**Print Designer:** We are seeking a **Print Designer** to design visually engaging, highly structured textbooks and workbooks for the K-12 market. You will transform complex educational content into age-appropriate layouts that facilitate learning, managing projects from initial grid concepts to final print-ready production. **Key Responsibilities** **1. Page Layout & Graphic Design** - **Book Layouts:** Design structured, age-appropriate page layouts, covers, and chapter openers using advanced master pages and style sheets. - **Visual Hierarchy:** Create clear typographic hierarchies to break up dense text, making lessons intuitive for young learners. - **Art Direction:** Brief and manage freelance illustrators and photo researchers to ensure visuals align with educational goals. - **Asset Prep:** Render clean charts, maps, and vector graphics from raw editorial data. **2. Prepress & Production** - **File Setup:** Build technically flawless Adobe InDesign files optimized for commercial print (precise grids, bleeds, and CMYK colour). - **Quality Control:** Review printer proofs, digital bluelines, and colour matches to ensure high-quality output. - **Vendor Coordination:** Interface with print vendors regarding technical specifications, paper stocks, and binding types. **3. Collaboration & Workflow** - **Editorial Alignment:** Partner with curriculum editors to map text perfectly to design layouts and learning objectives. - **Timeline Management:** Manage multiple design deadlines across grade levels to meet strict publishing calendars. **Key Qualifications** - **Tools:** Expert-level mastery of **Adobe InDesign** (long-document features), **Photoshop**, and **Illustrator**. - **Experience:** 3+ years of book design experience, ideally in educational publishing or children's media. - **Print Expertise:** Deep knowledge of commercial printing processes, pre-flighting, and colour management. - **Education Lens:** Familiarity with K-12 developmental aesthetics and layout constraints.
