The opportunity Join our high-voltage transformer manufacturing team at Hitachi Energy, Vadodara, where innovation meets precision. As the Winding Department In-Charge, you will lead operations for 220kV to 765kV and HVDC converter class transformers. How You’ll Make An Impact • Lead and manage winding operations including coil winding, insulation, and coil assembly • Ensure timely execution of production schedules while maintaining high-quality standards • Interpret and implement engineering drawings, winding sheets, and work instructions • Enforce strict compliance with EHS policies and promote a zero-incident safety culture. Conduct safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments regularly • Collaborate with QA/QC teams to ensure quality compliance and drive corrective actions • Lead and develop a team of winding technicians, supervisors, and contract workers. Identify skill gaps and implement training programs and multi-skilling initiatives • Drive continuous improvement using Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies • Monitor and report KPIs such as productivity, downtime, rework, and first-pass yield • Living Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business. • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines. Your background • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering • 15+ years of experience in transformer manufacturing, with at least 7 years in winding operations for EHV/UHV transformers • Strong knowledge of transformer winding techniques including Inter shield, interleaved disc, helical, and layer coils • Proficient in reading mechanical and electrical drawings • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills • Ability to lead fresh teams and manage conflict effectively. • Proficiency in spoken english Publication date : 2026-07-30
