We are looking for a “Quality Assurance Engineer” to work on the moderate to complex solutions and services via automation. Ideal candidate should have proven expertise in scalable systems, working across technologies, and mentoring junior engineers.Key job responsibilitiesA QAE-II at Amazon owns end-to-end test strategy for one or more product areas, designing and building automation frameworks that scale across services and reduce manual regression effort. Drive test coverage improvements by identifying gaps, performing risk-based prioritization, and implementing automated solutions integrated into CI/CD pipelines. The role requires owning release qualification and production sign-off, ensuring features meet the quality bar before launch. Partner with SDEs, SDMs, and PMTs during design reviews to influence testability decisions early in the development cycle, and provide quality guidance during operational readiness assessments. QAE-II defines and tracks quality metrics such as defect escape rate, automation coverage, and test pass rates, using data to drive decisions and process improvements. Root cause analysis for production issues and implementing preventive measures fall within our scope. Mentor QAEs and QATs on automation best practices, test methodologies, and tooling. The key differentiator at this level is operating independently on ambiguous problems, owning strategy rather than just execution, and influencing quality standards across the team or org with broader scope and minimal guidance.
