**Automation Mobile Tester (iOS/Android)** **BDD, Java, Appium Role purpose Deliver high-quality mobile releases by designing, building, and maintaining automated tests (primarily) within Agile delivery streams, while also performing targeted manual and exploratory testing where automation isnt the best fit**. **Key responsibilities** Test new features and improvements across iOS and Android applications to ensure a high-quality user experience. Design, write, and maintain automated mobile tests using BDD (Cucumber), Java, Selenium, and Appium. Contribute to the development, stability, and continuous improvement of the automated test suite and supporting frameworks. Perform manual and exploratory testing for scenarios not suitable for automation (e.g., usability, edge cases, device-specific behaviours). Create and maintain test cases for iOS and Android devices, ensuring appropriate coverage across devices, OS versions, and form factors. Execute unit and functional testing activities across iOS and Android (working with developers and/or validating outcomes as part of the QA strategy). Identify test approaches, coverage, requirement gaps, and risks; propose mitigations and communicate impacts early. Run and report on test plans across all client-side components (including browser and mobile device coverage where applicable). Identify, log, track, and retest defects using tools such as Jira, collaborating closely with developers to drive timely resolution. Ensure testing tasks are completed on time and align with agreed specifications, processes, and standardised best practices. Communicate progress, risks, and quality status clearly to key stakeholders including Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Developers. Support coordination of QA activities within the team, helping organise work and maintain delivery momentum. **Essential skills and experience** **Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks using Cucumber, Selenium, and Appium. PUBLIC** **Solid programming experience in Java with good test engineering practices (clean code, maintainability, reusability).** **Experience with automated testing on browsers and mobile devices (iOS and Android).** Proven ability to create effective test cases and execute testing across real devices and/or device farms. Experience using GitHub (or equivalent), CI/CD pipelines, and defect tracking tools such as Jira. **Strong understanding of client/server interactions (APIs, network behaviour, environments, test data considerations).** **Experience testing applications with users configured with different permissions/roles. Desirable experience** Familiarity with accessibility testing and tagging/analytics validation for mobile applications. Exposure to performance and/or reliability testing on mobile platforms. Experience coordinating a QA team's work (planning, prioritisation, reporting, and supporting consistent ways of working). Strong interest in mobile technology and demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of devices and operating systems.
