QA Automation Engineer / SDET UK Payments Experience: 3-7 Years Location: India Domain: Banking & Payments About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled QA Automation Engineer/SDET with deep expertise in UK Payments schemes and modern test automation practices. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in validating payment processing systems across FPS, BACS, CHAPS, and SEPA, along with strong Playwright automation capabilities to drive quality across enterprise-scale payment platforms. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks using Playwright. • Validate end-to-end payment journeys across UK payment schemes including FPS, BACS, CHAPS, and SEPA. • Create and execute automated test suites covering UI, API, integration, and regression testing. • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, and Payment SMEs to understand business requirements. • Perform functional, integration, system, and regression testing for payment applications. • Validate payment message processing, transaction flows, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling. • Analyse defects, perform root cause analysis, and work closely with development teams for resolution. • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines. • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to quality engineering best practices. • Ensure compliance with banking regulatory standards, security requirements, and audit controls. Mandatory Skills Payments Domain • Strong experience in UK Payments. • Hands-on knowledge of: • FPS (Faster Payments Service) • BACS • CHAPS • SEPA • Understanding of payment lifecycle, settlement, clearing, reconciliation, and exception processing. • Experience testing payment processing systems and payment gateways. Automation Testing • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright Automation. • UI Automation using Playwright with TypeScript or JavaScript. • Test framework design and maintenance. • Data-driven and BDD testing approaches. API Testing • REST API Testing • Postman • API Automation • JSON/XML validation Preferred Technical Skills • TypeScript / JavaScript • Java • Selenium (Good to Have) • Cucumber BDD • Rest Assured • SQL • Jenkins • Git/GitHub • Azure DevOps • Maven • CI/CD Pipelines • Docker • Kubernetes (Good to Have) Desired Experience • Experience working in Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech organisations. • Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies. • Experience with payment modernisation programmes. • Knowledge of ISO 20022 payment standards. • Exposure to SWIFT messaging is an added advantage.
