- Assistant Manager – Quality (Solar Damper & Railway Components) - Industry: Suspension Manufacturing / Railway Components - Position Summary - He/She will be responsible for ensuring product quality and compliance for Solar Dampers and Railway Suspension Components manufactured at the plant. The role involves implementing quality systems, managing inspections, handling customer and supplier quality issues, ensuring compliance with railway standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to achieve zero-defect manufacturing. - Key Responsibilities - Quality Assurance & Quality Control - • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) as per ISO 9001, IRIS, and customer-specific requirements. - • Ensure compliance with Railway standards, specifications, drawings, and quality plans. - • Monitor incoming, in-process, and final product inspections. - • Review inspection reports, test reports, and quality documentation. - • Ensure adherence to control plans, SOPs, work instructions, and quality procedures. - Customer Quality Management - • Handle customer complaints and quality concerns. - • Conduct root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and other problem-solving tools. - • Implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). - • Participate in customer audits and quality review meetings. - Supplier Quality Management - • Evaluate and develop suppliers to meet quality requirements. - • Conduct supplier audits and monitor supplier quality performance. - • Resolve supplier quality issues and implement improvement actions. - Process Improvement - • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, SPC, and Six Sigma methodologies. - • Reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints. - • Monitor KPIs such as PPM, COPQ, RFT, and Internal Rejection Rates. - Audit & Compliance - • Plan and conduct internal quality audits. - • Coordinate external audits by customers, certification bodies, and railway authorities. - • Ensure closure of audit observations within timelines. - Laboratory & Testing - • Oversee dimensional inspection, mechanical testing, and validation activities. - • Ensure calibration and maintenance of inspection and testing equipment. - • Monitor MSA, Gauge R&R, and calibration schedules. - Team Management - • Lead and mentor quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians. - • Conduct quality training and awareness programs. - • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement. - Experience - • 6–10 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control within: - • Railway Component Manufacturing - • Suspension Systems. - Technical Skills - • Knowledge of ISO 9001, IRIS, IATF 16949 (preferred). - • Strong understanding of Railway standards and customer requirements. - • Expertise in: - • APQP - • PPAP - • FMEA - • MSA - • SPC - • Control Plans - • CAPA - • 8D Problem Solving - • Proficiency in quality tools and statistical analysis. - • Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T. - Key Competencies - • Leadership and team management - • Analytical and problem-solving skills - • Customer focus - • Excellent communication and stakeholder management - • Attention to detail - • Decision-making capability - • Continuous improvement mindset - Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - • Customer PPM - • Internal Rejection Rate - • Supplier PPM - • Customer Complaint Closure Time - • Audit Compliance Score - • Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) - • On-Time CAPA Closure - • First Pass Yield (FPY) - CTC Range (Indicative): Depending on experience, railway exposure, and manufacturing background, typically 8–15 LPA for Assistant Manager level in the suspension/railway component industry. - This JD is tailored specifically for a Quality Assistant Manager handling Solar Dampers for Railways in a suspension manufacturing company. - Provide your feedback on BizChat
