The opportunity • You will be demonstrating a strong mechanical design & development background, combined with excellent analytical and project management skills and hands-on experience with state-of-the-art design techniques on a global platform. • Contribute with own ideas to identify, propose and implement innovative technology development and solutions. • You will showcase your independent problem-solving skills and contribute to ongoing R&D discussions relevant to your area of work. • Demonstrate your technical expertise by undertaking a variety of engineering assignments within R&D projects. How You Will Make An Impact • Work in new product development projects focusing on valve mechanical design tasks involving multi-disciplinary areas – for example heat transfer, electrical insulation, strength of materials and manufacturing technologies. • Oversees DFA/DFM for new product development across different R&D Project. • Perform DFMEA to prevent unnecessary product development issues in future. • Perform mechanical design for converter valve components including design calculations,preparation of design specifications and technical documents. • Perform basic ampacity ,understanding and application of clearance, creepage & tolerance chain calculation. • Create Valve 3D CAD Models , drawings and BOM. • Participate in various product verification tests from early prototype testing to final verification of converter valve design. • Think product lifecycle perspective in the design work by considering various aspects like reliability, safety, maintainability, tooling and manufacturing requirements. • Develop, manage and expand relationships with stakeholders, internal functions, Corporate Research Centers and external relevant parties. • Recognize the importance of intellectual property to our business, engage in IP discussions, prepare project clearance reports, and identify risks in R&D projects. • Serve as a valuable R&D project member and, as a potential project or sub-project leader, ensure alignment with goals in time, cost, and quality. Coordinate activities with a strong grasp of R&D processes and tools. • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines. • Participates constructively within team discussion. Shares own technical knowledge and support colleagues in applying processes and tools to ensure timely and high-quality results. • Shows solid documentation skills and writes technical reports independently. • Create development report, analysis report, assembly & test instruction, etc. • Perform root cause analysis. • Living Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business. Your background • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering. • Must have 10+ years of experience in Mechanical Design, Simulation & NPD experience, relevant to power electronics field. • Must have any of these tools experience like MATLAB,Abaqus FEA ,Ansys Workbench for structural analysis, and Fluent for CFD. • Must have Deep understanding of mechanical core competences, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T and basic understanding of electrical technology. • Good to have Strong proficiency in 3D-CAD modeling, ideally in NX environment. • Good to have relevant Electromechanical design experience from electric power industry or design of High/Medium voltage products.Nice to have Thyristor based valves knowledge. • Good to have experience in Team Center PLM system and SAP • Good to have experience in IEC & IEEE high voltage applications standards. • Must have Fluency in English -written and spoken.
